My USB controller isn't detected at all

I just booted up this game for the first time, everything is running great, but the game doesn't detect my controller at all, even though it's working fine in the control panel controller test. I'm using an adapter to convert a wii Classic controller to USB, so I believe that the laptop sees it as a generic windows gamepad; does this game just not have support for generic controllers?

My PC controller doesn't workw ith this either. Everyone says you need an Xbox 360 one.

Hey devs, if you're reading this, first off let me congratulate you on making such a beautiful and creative game in my favorite genre (don't have a PS3 or Vita, so I was really happy to see a PC port), but could you patch in support for generic windows gamepads sometime? It seems like an odd omission...

I got one for my pc. Biggest buyers remorse ever. ♥♥♥♥ is useless for platformers with that horrible d-pad.
Wish I paid extra for a ps3 controller instead.

I got a PS2 controller with usb adapter. Cheap and it works with x360ce with no issues xD

Download and unzip https://www.dropbox.com/s/obnds307t4kah5t/x360ce.rar and put it in the games folder steam>steamapps>common>guacamelee. Then change the name of xinput1_3.dll to xinput9_1_0.dll and double click the x360 exe file and make sure the buttons work etc. and then fire up the game and have a blast!!!

Worked with my PS4 controller using this method.

Or just setup any controller in BIG PICTURE mode. Every steam game will recognise it as a Xbox controller. It's the easiest way. Just go to BIG PICTURE>settings>controller. After that you can exit BP mode and play with controller in desktop mode.
AFAIK big picture mode only doesn't work in WIN XP so you must use other solutions if you're XP user.

I tried this and it doesnt work. It works until you need to play a game, the games do not take the controller information from steam, at leaste none of the games Ive tried. x360ce 100% recommended
