Disappearing Platforms In Sierra Secret Area
Four hours. I still haven't figured out the area with the small disappearing platforms, and it's taken me four ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ hours to finally give up.

I've beaten all of the Megaman games, but this ♥♥♥♥...this ♥♥♥♥ is madness. I'm totally cool with never getting the "good" ending for this game now. Completely okay with it. If it means that I cannot get past a level that obviously takes luck and precision that the game just doesn't lend itself to, then that's cool. I can't be much more pixel-perfect than what this game allows me to be.

Other than that, it's a fantastic game, and something I had a lot of fun with up until I tried to do this one particular area. Four hours later, I've decided to move on, and I'll likely never come back to it. It's a real shame, because I have other games to play that I can actually progress in because it's not engineered to make players give up.

I -had- a blast with it. Maybe your next game won't bottleneck like that.

I found you could jump just before the platforms went away and then double jump and you would be in the air long enough that the platform you were on would reappear. This would let you slow down and make better choices for where you should jump next.

There are 2 sets of platforms that alternate with time. You can ignore one of the sets and time your jumps to only use the other. The way special moves make you pause, you can double-jump and up+B and make it fine as you make your way right and up. BaldBull's advice is good too, and if you jump too early, the neutral B move helps you float. The last half-screen of each room can be skipped by just gunning it with a double-jump, right+B, up+B. If you find yourself running out of special moves because you are going too quickly, use the Skeleton costume which has infinite stamina.

For anyone else that has a lot of trouble with this area like I did:

I finally realized that you get WAY better timing and control if you insert an uppercut BETWEEN a double jump.

You have pretty good air control during a jump or double jump but not coming out of the uppercut. So if you Jump, then Uppercut (Up+B on 360 pad), then jump again you end up with a better timing match to the platforms and correct your position if you were off.

Once I stopped doing the double jump first and uppercut last and switched to Jump-Uppercut-Jump I was consistently getting near the end and in maybe 10-15 tries finally finished this out.

As much as I hated Tule Tree Tops this section took so much longer.

Hope that helps someone!

I finally got it, but it took lots and lots of patience. Almost three months worth of coming back to it, getting pissed off after an hour, and dropping it for another week.

But finally...I got it.

Good work! I've given up on this as well. It took me about 3 hours when I've done it for the first time. Now, after I've done it several times, it's taking me a lot less.

I smashed it in a night but it took me a solid hour/hour and a half and is probably the most challenging platforming I've ever encountered. I too found that juggling headbutts kept me afloat, I ended up going into this crazy trance where I refused to let it best me and wouldn't sleep before I'd nailed it - my girlfriend passed out on the couch next to me.

Felt bloody great to finish it! Now I have this tree left to do.
