Keyboard + Mouse Question
I heard this game was great. I also heard it's a bit annoying trying to play with a keyboard and mouse. As I'm never, EVER, going to use a controller on my computer .... (maybe a steering wheel if I get the need to race all cool-like), can anyone let me know if I'd still enjoy it?

I played without controller without any problems. Just fiddle around til you get something that feels right for you.
Pfft, people who say keyboards are incapable of platforming properly are just blaming their own inabilities on the control scheme.

Well i got through the game on normal and hard mode with my good ol (and rather ancient by now) keyboard, so that all works well. Only minor limitation aparrantly is that you can only throw enemies in 8 directions (standard up,down,left,right,up-left,up-right,-down-left,down-right), while an controller with a stick would let you choose your arcs more carefully from what i hear, but i never encountered an situation where my throws where required to be THAT precise.

Just a word of advice, the game is not the easiest one around, plenty of cursing and shouting to be had sometimes, but it was all so worth it regardless. :P
And make sure to set important buttons like dimension swap, special attacks and the grab button and jump to something readily accesible, i suppose. Helps alot in those later stages or the good ol hellish bonus areas these games sometimes have.

my controls feel delayed, is this because I'm using a keybroad or does it have something to do with my computer?

I recomend WASD for movement, space/K for jump, J for punch, I for special, and L for grab/talk.

I've had no trouble with unresponsive controls.

If I were to guess, I think it might have something to do with the particular keyboard being used. I've encountered certain games where using the arrow keys for movement would not be able to register two directions at once, such as for a vertical North-East direction. I cannot confirm this 100%, since I don't own Guacamelee on PC, but that's my 2 cents which amounts to nothing since Canada phased out the penny.

I play with standart keybindings. I am not able to press D(special) and a cursor direction (up,down etc) at the same time. I have to press the direction first and then the special key.

This is ♥♥♥♥. It feels bad, it is hella hard to do any combos with it. If i mess one button Up by a millisecond and press special before i press the direction i fall/die etc.

Game is fun, but unplayable for me on keyboard. Any fixes for that?

For people experiencing delays or flat out no response out of keyboard presses... you have a ♥♥♥♥♥♥ keyboard. Your keyboard is ghosting... meaning it can't handle certain key combinations. It's a hardware limitation unless you get a keyboard that is labeled as anti-ghosting... and even then it might not help all that much.

This is -the- major caveat to playing games like this on a keyboard. You often need to be pressing more than one key at the same time. If you're trying to press up, right and jump all at the same time during those delightful wall-jumping sections... especially when you might need to add a fourth key to use abilities to extend the reach of your jump, your keyboard may not be able to handle that.

Guys... it's okay to use a gamepad on a PC. It's okay. You don't have to keep up the elitism crap. Personally I have a PS2-to-USB converter so I use a PS2 controller to play this. Granted I have to use Joy2Key to map the buttons because the game doesn't seem to pick up the controller at all (maybe this is one of those games that only picks up a 360 controller).

Here's an interesting read on this issue, minus the plug for a Microsoft product: http://www.microsoft.com/appliedsciences/antighostingexplained.mspx

Hey! I'm an avid PC gamer, and a confessed PC gaming elitist, but using a keyboard has nothing to do with it! People use what they're comfortable with. Many PC gamers who would consider themselves elitist use a controller on PC because that's what they feel more comfortable with. I myself use a keyboard and mouse, because it's what I feel more comfortable with.

Blame us for thinking we're better than console users, blame us for thinking PC games are historically more ground-breaking than console titles, but don't claim we're elitist for using a keyboard. That is simply a preference for some of us, much like a person's preference for consoles vs PCs and vice versa.

(completely off-topic, and highly sarcastic....)

On-topic: All I'll say is that when a game is designed with a controller in mind, that makes me a bit peeved but not overwhelmingly so. In fact, beating Super Meat Boy with a keyboard is one of my proudest moments of last year.... along with Teleglitch, Desktop Dungeons, Brutal Legend, etc.
