Guacamelee! Gold Edition

Guacamelee thinks my controller is two controllers
I'm playing Guacamelee on Ubuntu using a PS3 controller, and whenever I first hit the "jump" or "attack" buttons, the bubble for a second player shows up. If I accidentally break the bubble, then I'm controlling two luchadors with the one controller, which is distracting. If I go into the "assign controller" screen it shows two.

When I go into Steam's settings window it only detects one controller, so I'm pretty sure the problem is specific to Guacamelee.

Has anybody encountered this and know of a workaround?

Hi, i'm playing Guacamelee on Manjaro Linux using a PS4 controller and happens the same. I think Guacamelee detects keyboard and controller and it thinks there are two controllers. Maybe this game isnt's optimized at 100% for Linux
I have the same problem with a Logitech F310 controller. Arch Linux.
I think I found a work-around: Under options, go to "Assign controllers," hit "left" once to unassign the second controller and back out. Problem hasn't come up since making that change.
