I will guide you... :profgenki:

Enter an inhabited planet or space station and press "i" twice. This will take you to a search screen to find anything you want, including named ships and captains!

Press G to talk to a planet's ambassador, and take their mission. The best mission to take as a rookie might be delivery missions. These will grant you 600+ xp each, plus a bonus of 6000-18000 credits each!

Invest in special charities, such as funding for military projects, rookie ranger's gear, and maybe even upgrading a space station's weapons and defenses, within the first 5 years. When you start collecting nodes from the Dominion, it might be a good idea to invest in defeating the dominion by donoting some nodes to the research centers.

Hope this helps!

Finding a mission [delivery] is hard ,the only ones i ever was given were tutorial ,from medical center to Venus.
edit and that dint gave any exp. I usually try using the business station for finding what to buy and where to sell it

You can also cause an increase in prices. If the station you are about to sell to has only a few of those items left, but the prices are still good to sell to them, instead of selling - buy the couple that are left, then gather those resources for a week, and come back to sell them and they will buy for even more money!

I just got done doing this. But be careful. Someone delivered a ton of items to my first sell destination, and I had to take my second choice... but because I bought the 5 medpacks they had previously (for 52cr), they then wanted to buy my 450 medpacks for 55cr each! (A week later.)

But ya... I find different delivery quests constantly. And they pay 20,000cr each often, plus xp. Tutorial didn't give me much xp either, if any.

basically you die a ton and slowly firgure it out. and then restart alot when the overall picture is obvioulsy going to hell. the internet helps, but while spoilers are somewhat neccessary, they can also be really painful. this game really flourished for me when it was one of like 3 really great games my laptop could play. its like that album you had on cassette you forced yourself to listen to repeatedly until you realized it was the greatest ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ thing ever. also, id definitely recommend skipping the rts stuff, at least for awhile. (i saw this at biglots, about 8 or 9 years ago, and actually researched it for 2 days before i spent 3.99 on it. until i upgraded my ram i could only play sr1 which came with sr2, and was actually alot harder. i think. i was much better with money back then. also got darwinia (great!) and neighbors from hell (okay!) at the same biglots.)

Yes. I agree. The game is mostly left for fun in exploring for yourself. But it does make a huge difference to just be able to find those controls to figure out.

I didn't want to explain my strategy of playing the game, but rather what was possible. Such as the "i" button twice for the galactic search menu, and taking missions to increase xp immensly.

thats the best sort of advice i think. also, to me the most important spec early on, and pretty much always, was the space that stuff takes up in your ship. also, you should always be upgrading your stuff when you can afford it, especially things that can help you travel further on a tank of gas and the radar can be helpful in determining the best places to go/ ♥♥♥♥ to avoid. drones are really important mid game and on. etc etc. but i accidentally read where to find/how to defeat one of the dominators online, too early, and it made me sad i hadn't somehow discovered it on my own. though the game doesnt't leave too many hints. i absolutely love the text adventures, except when im in prison. but that seems somewhat appropriate as well.

I had decided less weight for all parts was desired early on. But now I somehow wonder if the mass of an object also indicates a larger number of hit points. Seeing how space stations always have incredibly large and massive equipment. Currently I am indecisive on this matter.

I had replaced a space station's 120kg 11% shield generator with a 30kg 19% shield generator, and when I visited some time later, it was considerably damaged compared to other equipment. (I do not know why they did not repair it, but I am almost completely sure it was fully functional when I installed it.)

To test this theory, I have installed modules to enlarge equipment on space stations. And I have purchased a heavier grabber for my ship, to see if it lasts longer than one of half the weight. The only place I have had a problem with my grabber breaking fully was during a prolonged battle vs the Dominators (Keller specifically so far). But by that time my weapons were nearly busted up, my engine used up, and my repair droid was broken down due to a surge. But inevitably, I left only due to my grabber having broken down. No reason to stay if I couldn't take their nodes and parts.

i never really even considered that! the make of equipment is also pretty huge, wrt how long it will hold up between repairs. scavenging battles with the kellar without really engaging is also a really great side job. this game is really genius. i cant wait to play shadow of mordor, which seems somehow similar. in the persistent world aspect. based on reviews. maybe.

oh, thanks! (i havent heard that one before. :)

The cross thought came to me when realizing that hull hit points was relative to hull size. But the idea is stunted by trying to figure out how the hit point bar is calculated at the top of the tool tip when hovering a ship part. Could part hit points be random, or associated with weight, or both. :cyborg:

arent hit points also the space on your ship? or weight or whatever that number refers to?
