The Polish translation is ready!

As a fan of Space Rangers 2, which was localized into Polish really well, I was disappointed when Space Rangers HD: A War Apart didn't have an official Polish translation. For years, I waited, hoping someone would create a fan-made localization. I know of two projects that started over the years but eventually stalled and were abandoned halfway through. So, recently, I decided to take matters into my own hands! :) And I’m happy to announce that the translation work is mostly complete, and I expect to finish it within a week.

Yes, artificial intelligence turned out to be helpful, as it’s much better for translations than Google Translate. However, it’s not all that easy—AI can only translate small chunks of text at a time, and there’s no way to automate the process. As a result, I’ve already spent many hours on the tedious cycle of “export, copy, paste, save” over and over again. :) But thanks to this effort, we’ll finally have a proper Polish translation.

I’m curious how many people out there are still waiting for one. I’m primarily doing this for myself because I want to enjoy Space Rangers again in my native language. :)

Once I’m done, I’d be happy to share it somehow—maybe even the publishers/developers will be interested? Is anyone here still waiting? I imagine most Polish fans don’t even check this forum anymore, but either way, I wanted to let you know that it’s coming soon, and I’ll keep you updated here. In the meantime, if this news made you happy, let me know in the comments! It might motivate me to speed up the remaining work and release it sooner. ;)

Nice of the "AI used" disclaimer! You might want to copy/paste/URL the "terms of use" (or license or whatever called) of the machinery used -- might not be suitable for commercial/public sector use out of the box. I mean Publisher might not be happy with AI's involvement...

I don’t care. :) As I said, I’m doing this mostly for myself. Besides, many games often use Google-translated localizations. The only difference with using an AI tool is that the translation will be much better.

I think German translation was added as a built-in mod into the game by the lone dev that still cares about the game. Maybe he'll do the same for you.

I didn’t quite understand your proposal. Do you want to submit my translation as the Spanish one? I don’t think that’s what you meant, right?
Who are you? A mod creator who worked on the Spanish translation, or someone from the game’s development team? I’m not quite sure I understand.

I'm not creator or dev, just mod-maker. I have connections with game dev and can help you. I'm just glad to see that I help game become better by reporting old bugs and connecting translators and other guys worh dev :D

hej kiedy będzie gotowe ? bo sam rozmyślałem o tym aby zrobić spolszczenie ;) moge grac po eng ale ta gra ma dla mnie klimat tylko gdy jest po PL.

-Opcje nadal po angielsku
-Walki robotów
-przygody tekstowe ( sam je już przetłumaczyłem)

W sumie to robię to dla ojca jako prezent na 60 urodziny wielki fan gry a nie umiem po eng

Spoko, zostanę przy tym jako przy solo projekcie, który robię od początku do końca samodzielnie. W końcu włożyłem w to już koło setki godzin. :) Menu nie tłumaczyłem celowo, bo często można tłumacząc opcje popełnić błędy i potem opcje nie są zrozumiałe. Ale może przetłumaczę je jednak wkrótce, to nie był moj priorytet. W pliku tekstowym zresztą to wyjaśniłem. :)

100h to powiem ci tak tłumaczenie od którego ja zaczynam to były gry tekstowe tam setki godzin to dopiero początek 1 gra tekstowa (znajdizesz je w pkg ) ma wiecej czasem tekstu niz cały lang.dat
