How do you even beat Shynie?
Hey, I have the game on normal and I can, in absolutely no way, beat Shynie.

I guess I do okay untill like 50% and she starts using the floating-daggers and spawning more monsters.

This is actually mentally breaking me, but I don't want to lower to Easy.

Once she gets lower than 1/3rd HP is really the problem. Those auto target knives hurt like mad... and they're auto taget (obviously). Anyway, staying away, jumping over attacks, and using the basic magic shot... a lot... is pretty much how I beat her. Seriously, you have to time your jumps to get over the auto target knife volleys, and being too close can often get you caught by her quick throws which still do a ton of damage, or somtimes just by the setup for her knife volleys will hit you. She also spams her forward knife volley quite a bit, so you have to use the platforms to get over that sometimes (since she'll fire 3 or more volleys in a row, so blocking often gets your guard broken). Always be ready to block if you don't manage to jump over knives.

Also, as passives I used the HP up and HP regen.

Otherwise, killing the little guys is fairly key to keep them from messing you up with their magic bolts. The larger mobs also drop health, so killing those is helpful.

At least the next boss is WAY FREAKING EASIER than Shynie. Them ranged attack man... them ranged attacks.

Yeah, ranged attacks suck! You are in for a treat in later levels with mobs firing ranged bullets/lasers. I think there was a passive skill that gives more HP, you can combine it with another that I think let you continue one more time instead of being defeated. I'll have to look up the names of the skills. Or you can go for the STR skill so you can pack greater punch and break her guard more easily.

It's tricky, yeah, those bloody knives, man!

When she surrounds herself with floating knives, it's pretty horrible. Can't get close enough to hit her.

What I do is just dodge dodge dodge and poke at her right after the knives go flying away, then dodge back again before she insta-kills me by spawning a load on top of me :P

Don't try to do big combos, just be really careful. You can probably also try kicking the spawned enemies at her, or of course actual ranged magic, but I'm partial to punching and kicking.

I only use the special "Silhouette mirage" which is a teleport that allows you to teleport in any direction, if you have it set to all 3. Then I have Regeneration and Air raid as passives. And that, my boys, is overpowered. You can basically just teleport away from danger and then backstep for a while to regen. I dont' see any difficulty in the game with that setting.

You can teleport in any direction with it set to... any direction. The direction you press -after- you use it is where it goes. Setting it to multiple directions is useless. Just set it to neutral.

I don't see why you need it to escape from danger, though. You're completely invincible while dodging, and everything cancels instantly into a dodge. Shynie's floating daggers are about the only thing in the game where you actually need to -get away-. Everything else you can just stand next to and dodge until they stop attacking.

Thanks for your replies guys, managed to finally beat her with your help.

But my god, was that tough.. Was afraid I had to switch to easy for a while there.

Another intresting way I found to beat here was the counter skill though since all her attacks are some kind of trowable the only use it has is when shynie would attemp to kick you away from her but if you could time it right it took a decent amout of health or you could use it on the golm things that spwan and bounce them at her for a bit of damage though it's just as easy to kick them at her.

I had used the magic skill "Sparrow" to whittle her down while guarding, supplement to finding openings and poking her before her next attack. The optional skills "Hard Turtle" and Regenerate allows you to keep defending and dodging to allow your health to fill (Mastered regen can fully heal you in ~20-30 seconds). I used this tactic successfully with every boss and cleared Normal mode with no problems. Haven't tried any harder difficulties yet, just moved on to Guardian mode.
Zerreth Oct 21, 2012 @ 5:27pm
Hard Turtle, Str buff. Guard step infinitely towards her to push her into a corner and forward attack twice and guard step away. Abuse the fact that you're invincible and remove the floating daggers by doing so. If she's above you. Ether saber 2, crescent spike and then dodge away.

You can also interrupt her lightning stab with crescent spike or lightning drop, though the spike gives you the chance to follow up with arc slicer or lightning drop.

If you're really feeling lazy, counter her with long range. Set rune soul and hard turtle as optionsl skills and just spam quill right after you dodge away from her after pushing her into a corner.

The cheapest way to beat shynie is to equip freesia with a homing type attack and climb on the highest mushroom in that stage. While you're on that mushroom, back step all the time while shooting homing attacks, you'll easily win with minimum or most likely no damage at all and it works in all difficulty.

I just dodged a ton and dodged into her making sure to time my dodges to prevent my Guard Crush gauge from hitting to high. Additionally I equipped Hard Turtle to help slow the amount the Guard Crush gauge fills. Its worth noting that getting a lot of normal attacks in are paramount since she has some insane super armor going on.
Rocket2049 Oct 31, 2012 @ 1:21pm
spammed peacock and sidestep over and over.

I just used lvl 4 defense and lvl 3 regeneration.

Hard Turtle + regen + anything else
just block the whole ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ fight since you can use yours skills even blocking
The TOP mushroom gives you breathing room in the fight
the way i did ti was

#1 equip woodpecker, HP regen and HP boost

#2 block alot or jump backwards, remember you are invicinble when u jump back
shoot her with woodpecker on the ground then block
it will do tons of damage and every 1/3rd HP it will make her dizzy and break her guard

#3 after shooting her with woodpecker or when you have no magic JUMP UP TO THE TOP
look at your mini map, you see the red dots? those are the enemies
when you need health regen, or when your MP is empty double jump up to the top mushroom and stay above the red dots
very few of her attacks go straight up, but u still need to hold block or jump back
when her HP is 1/4th she will begin mass auto attacks so watch your guard breaks but try and stay above her and most will miss

#4 patience
it may take few times dropping down, shooting, going back up and waiting
remember you still have to kill the other enemies that spawn
try not to get stuck between the boss and the mud blobs, so choose where to fall down beforehand
you can try hard turtle but as long as you are not on the ground constantly you should be ok
