Can't change keyboard controls
When I go to change my keyboard map settings the "Accept" button greys out as soon as I make a single change. This happens whether I'm in the main menu prior to playing or if I try to change settings mid-game. I've never had a controller on this machine but I went ahead and enabled the '-nocontroller' option on the advanced settings and that changed nothing.

I'd enjoy this game much more if I could change from the default keyboard key mapping.

Are you trying to remove a mapping for a required control? Some of the controls are necessary to play the game, and can't be mapped to nothing.

No, I'm not trying to remove any of the controls, just change the keys they map to.

In help and options - settings there is a button marked button mappings yes/no. Have you tried this?
Also does any-one know how to map actions to multi button mice? I have a RAT 7, but can only use buttons 1, 2 and 3.

Yeah, the button mappings yes/no setting does exactly nothing for me.

The "button mappings" setting only controls whether or not the controls are displayed in-game on the HUD, in the top-right corner of the screen. Some people might like to hide them to have a less cluttered screen.

As long as all of the requried controls are mapped on the controls settings screen, you should be able to accept your changes. Can you try changing a single key mapping and see if that works, and let us know the specific steps you're taking if it isn't working?

For example if any of the keys display that they are not mapped, you may not be able to accept your changes.

I finally figured out what I was doing wrong and feel sort of silly. The "Accept" button was getting greyed out because the menu would allow you to map the same key to different functions instead of unmapping others when you reassigned a key. This is unlike pretty much any other game that allows you to map keys, which tend to automatically unmap keys from other functions when they are reassigned. The greyed "Accept" button is just a binary indicator that you've got conflicting key mappings.

Hm! That is kind of silly. I hadn't thought of that or I would have suggested checking for it. I think we'll be able to correct that in a future patch to avoid further confusion, but in the meantime it's good to know that that's something to watch out for.

Sorry for the trouble, and thanks for posting the solution.

You're welcome.

Count me in as another who would like to be able to map to mouse buttons as well.

So is there concensus that mouse & keyboard work well on this?

A controller would be optimal, but mouse and keyboard works pretty well.

Actually, I have the same problem. It's very weird. If I change the move up key to anything, the accept button grays out. Even when I change it back to the default "w" it stays gray. Very buggy and frustrating.

Hi smithulence, you may want to double check that you aren't leaving a required control un-mapped, which will disable the Accept button.

Unfortunately these are not marked on screen, but as an example if you tried to map Move Up to 'Q' it would un-map the Use Item keybinding which is required. Even if you changed Move Up back to W, Use Item wouldn't automatically restore itself, so you would have to go and map it before accepting your settings.
