A Brief Shadow / Cardboard Box Kill Issues

I scoured this forum for a bit before posting. I'm having issues with the Brief Shadow stealth kill, where you kill an enemy from a hiding spot. When I start the kill, the swipe icon comes up, I right click and begin to swipe, and my ninja just rehides instead of following through on the kill. I can't complete the "Heaven's Gate" achievement (kill from inside the cardboard box) or the objective in the final level where you need to kill someone from a hiding spot after teleporting there.

I tried remapping the Use action, but it keeps the right click modifier no matter which key I choose. Any suggestions? Thanks!
