Strange bug outside "Mines of Moria" quest?

I'm just outside the mines. If I go the other way I find a character locked up in a cage/small cell with an opening mechanism that requires a lever/gear to open. Further down the road, there is some sort of mini-game with toy ships in the water (shoot the red enemy ships and get coins). There is also a fishing rod-minigame and when I complete it, the game rewards me with a gear (for the locked cage). The problem is, I can't pick up the lever! It just hoovers in mid-air. When I try to jump and grab it, my characters just bounce off of it (like it's a physical object i.e a rock). I tried to reload the game and do the fishing again, but no luck. Please help anyone?

In video options turn V-sync on and try again.

Did you ever get to the borttom of this? I've just come across the same bug but swiching V-Sync does nothing :(

Try lowering the effects settings. If that doesn't help, tinker with the resolution and the refresh rate.

I had this problem recently, Just leaving the solution I have here, for anyone who needs: Fish it out with Gollum.

First off if it's in mid air or you seen it going underground it went wrong. It's supposed to lay on the ground and requires you to manually press a button to pick it up so restart and go fishing again.

What worked for me: I used Merry, I Set resolution to 1024x768, refresh 60hz, vsync 30hz, aspect ratio 16:9, Texture quality low, brightness 50.

some options might not need to be the setting such as brightness to 50 but idk for sure so these are just the video settings I have after tweaking around. Remember you have to have these settings before you fish it out if it's in mid air you have to restart save and change settings.

It's 2024 and I ran into this issue as well. I tried what Nugget356 suggested and it seemed to have worked. The handle didn't stick in the air. But before I retrieved that one, I went to Isengard and dug up the handle there. Except for the ones you fish out of lakes or rivers, the ones you dig up respawn in the same place, so you can just go back to one of those and get it. I don't remember where many of them are, but Isengard has one. I've used it to open three things so far. 👍
