Taming Gollum query

In Freeplay I found the secret cave at the back where you need Gollum to climb a wall, There appear to be two lever/wheel things which you normally get one character to push to open a door or something. I am guessing that in this one it moves part of the wall backwards so that Gollum can jump across to the other area and get the lever.
However, I do not seem able to push the lever - the character just pushes against it and nothing happens. I am wondering if it's just a case of being in the exactly correct pixel position (as with other places where you have to do this) or if I am missing something obvious. Any suggestions?

In Lego Starwars 2 and such I know you actually needed to guide the crank by pushing the character against it. In LotR you just walk up to it and press your special key over and over again like you're turning a crank or something.

That is if I'm understanding your probably correctly.

I had this problem at the beginning of The Secret Stairs, a solution that I found worked for me was pressing the action button so the character starts pushing, then pausing and unpausing the game. After I unpaused the game the character would push like normal for a little ways then it would glitch again, so agian I would pause and unpause and the character would return to pushing normally. Sometimes it only took one time of pausing and unpausing, other times it took two or three, but it proved to be an easy way around the problem. Hope this helps.

Yes, this method worked for me - although I discovered it by accident before I came here to ask about something else! But thank you for the suggestion.
