Another Secret Stairs bug

I'm at the spot after Frodo throws the rock at the spider web and it reveals a gold thing for Sam to use the rope on. I can only get the b button prompt to use the rope as Sam when I jump but no matter how many times I press it he won't throw the rope. Any ideas?

I'm playing on steam deck if that makes a difference. Haven't had the slightest problem with the game until now.

If it's the spot I'm thinking of...
With the cave to the right where you pick up rocks and the chasm to the left with the boulder you're trying to pull down?..
For me I could only get the prompt when Sam was dangerously close to the edge. In freeplay it was a bit easier as I could aim the throw when not so close to falling off the edge (I'm using keyboard though, if that makes a difference.).

Thank you it worked! I was able to inch close enough to the edge and get the prompt to throw the rope. I was getting bummed thinking it was a problem with the steam deck and I wouldn't be able to finish the game. Thanks a lot!
