Game doesn't start

I've installed the game, I hit play, and nothing happens. I've restarted my PC, launched it from everywhere I can think of and nothing opens it. I had a search for previous solutions, and tried to install DirectX9, but my computer can't install it because there is already a more modern one installed. OS is Windows 11, but that shouldn't make a difference surely?

You should be able to run the Microsoft wizard to install legacy versions from here:

it didnt work for me what is the other way around this issue
also i looked into the file itself and i dont have an exe. file anymore what can i do about this

i am also having this issue, has anyone found anything? I saw people saying to download the file but not sure where to even get it from.

I have found a fix that has worked for me if you're able to give it a go:

Track down the application file in file explorer (or search Lego Lord of the Rings and open that folder - it will be named LEGOLOTR). Right click it and select properties. Go into the Compatibility tab. There is a dropdown menu to select which operating system the game should run in compatibility mode for. I selected Windows 7, but it might work as well for other options. This let the game run for me. It opens strangely the first couple of times, but it does work.

go into game settings on steam, then click on generally, then start settings and write:
-dxlevel 90 -32bit -heapsize 2048

Is there an alternative method that works for people without admin? i can't install directx 9
