can't 'DROP OUT' co-op 2nd player in the menu..

Having issues on laptop keyboard only trying to play solo player.
Read online how to help but get stuck when i hit 'enter' as 2nd player to pause the game, go down to drop out but no key will select it to turn off. Do I need a bigger normal pc keyboard just to be able to hit num2 and be able to select drop out?
