Fixing Crash after the Black Rider level
So your game crashes as soon as you move in the level right after the Black Rider? Here's how to fix it:

1. Browse the local files of the game. In the Steam Library, you can right click, choose "Manage" and go "Browse local files".
2. Locate the LEGOLOTR.exe, right-click and select "Properties".
3. At the top of the Properties window, select the "Compatibility" tab.
4. Under "Compatibility mode", check the box "Run this program in compatibility mode for:"
5. In the next drop-down, select "Windows 7"
6. Click "OK"

Now when you run the game, the level should work as expected. You can leave this mode ON as this game seems to have more issues down the line and this might fix them.

Where can you find the option to enable compatibility mode in properties section?

Hey, that's odd. Have you tried running as admin?

Hey, I'm on a later update of Windows, Win11 specifically, I follow these instructions and I can't find a Compatibility tab when I go to properties?

I found the following fix after much googling, I had the same issue and this fixed it. I copy and pasted but the forum has photos as well if you’re having trouble. Support gog was the site

Press WinKey+R to open Run window. In it paste:
SystemPropertiesAdvanced
Press Ok.
Next click on Environment Variables
In the lower frame, System Variables, press New:
And in the fields, paste these values:
Variable Name:
OPENSSL_ia32cap
Variable value:
~0x20000000
Press Ok and close the Environment Variables window. Restart the computer. Try to run the game now.
