FAQ
Survivors,

following the launch of the Endzone 2 Demo, we have taken note of your feedback and have made the decision to update our FAQ accordingly.

We are committed to actively engaging with your questions on the Steam forum. Through this process, we have identified several recurring themes that we aim to address here. While this may be a lengthy read, we firmly believe in community-driven development and thus wish to dedicate the time to address your concerns, just as you have taken the time to provide us with valuable feedback!

Q: I get a Pink screen on Startup!
A: If you are getting a pink screen directly or soon after the demo starts this most likely means that you are missing the VULKAN graphics api. This can happen if your hardware or drivers are too old or if you have very specific configurations.
  • 1. Make sure all your drivers are up to date
  • 2. If you have a setup that consists of an AMD based iGPU and an additional NVIDIA GPU, please see this guide to hopefully get it fixed Guide
  • 3. If the issue persists we would be thankful if you could send us a report with the latest log files using this link[gentlymad.org].

Q: When starting a new session I only get a black screen and hear a voice over
A:This issue is under active invenstigation and we currently are unable to pinpoint the issue with any certainty. There are however some indications.
  • 1. Having 6gb or less VRAM AND:
  • 2. Have other GPU taxing applications open (Chrome with many tabs, any capture software)
  • 3. If the issue persists we would be thankful if you could send us a report with the latest log files using this link[gentlymad.org].

Q: The game crashes while loading
A:This issue is most likely related to limited VRAM. If you get a popup at the start of the game about having not enough VRAM, you are not meeting the minimum requirements. We'll try to optimize in later stages of the Early Access but currently 4gb of VRAM are required to run the game. You can still try to run it and some users have confirmed that it is still playable but we can't guarantee that playing or loading save games is stable.

Q: My video/ my stream quality is super bad!
Please turn off “sharpen” in the options menu. We noticed some viewers experienced a low bit rate. A workaround is to turn off sharpening. You find it in Options>Graphics>Render Quality.

Q: Why create a successor instead of updating “Endzone - A World Apart”?
A: When the Early Access phase of Endzone ended, we knew that the journey was not over but merely beginning. There were many ideas we had internally, and so many more contributed by you and the awesome feedback you provided that we felt we needed to start fresh. These ideas include big features like managing multiple settlements or implementing vehicles. It also includes more technical stuff like creating comprehensible settler pathing & behavior, achieving a better graphical fidelity, or laying down a good technical foundation for mod support.

Starting fresh gave us the opportunity to refine and work on these features without having to make them work in an environment that was never made with these requirements in mind, pouring all of our learnings into the new framework.

Q: Will there be localization for my language?
A: For the Early Access release of Endzone we target to support all languages as mentioned on the store page. During the Early Access phase we will re-evaluate additional languages, based on localization requests and metrics.

Adding additional languages is a big undertaking, especially during Early Access, where we want to put out monthly updates. Every new localization adds to the toll of fixed time to translate game content into all supported languages for every update. Because of this we won’t add new languages until the later stages of Early Access or the final release of the game.

We do however recognize your requests, so keep them coming to make us aware, in which languages you want the game to be translated.

Q: What are the most important differences to “Endzone - A World Apart”?
A: Look out for the section of the store page under: “Key Changes & Additions”, where we list some of the key differences, also (partially) localized.

Here is a quick run down of the most important changes:
  • Zones: In Endzone - A World Apart, you played on one vast map where you could build a global settlement. But in Endzone 2, the world expands as you uncover different zones, offering exclusive resources to plunder. Manage multiple settlements and unlock a vast amount of possibilities to help them flourish.
  • New Settler Behaviour: We've tackled and refactored settler paths and job distribution issues from the ground up. Embrace the new and improved system, now more comprehensible and balanced, supporting thriving settlements with thousands of inhabitants.
  • Vehicles: Your wish for vehicles back in Endzone - A World Apart has been heard! Now, you can freely choose your starting location by moving your settlement bus. As the game progresses, you'll have the opportunity to construct additional vehicles, perfect for establishing trade routes or venturing into the treacherous badlands.
  • Expedition System Overhaul: The expeditions system was updated to introduce detailed ruins, waiting to be explored by directly controlling and guiding your explorers. They consist of less text and more action! Uncover clues, unlock secrets, and discover valuable loot on your journeys.
  • New Graphics: Our rendering system has undergone a complete overhaul, bringing you a more detailed and visually stunning environment. The animations have received a makeover too, resulting in breathtaking graphics that will immerse you like never before.

Q: How can I give feedback?
A: The best and most direct way to interact with us is through our Discord[discord.gg] server. Here you can give feedback or look at what other community members suggested and there will also be some exclusive bits & infos shared directly from the team. Alternatively, you can also leave feedback using our Feedback Form[gentlymad.org].

Q: How will the Early Access for Endzone 2 look like?
A: We plan with an Early Access duration of approximatly 12 months. The game will receive monthly updates with bi-monthly “Patches” containing Quality of Life improvements, bug fixes and content additions as well als “Updates” containing brand new features. To read more on our Early Access strategy, make sure to check out the store page. There is a dedicated area that you can expand to read up in much more detail on this topic & it is (partially) localized!

Q: Why are you doing a Kickstarter campaign for Endzone 2?
A: The Kickstarter campaign is a way for us to show appreciation to our fans, offering them the opportunity to receive exclusive content and to reach players beyond our usual platforms. While Endzone 1 already used other ways to support us beforehand, we aim to expand on this concept with Kickstarter, providing a wider reach and more possibilities as well as covering expenses including Marketing, distribution, public relations and various others.

That is why the stretch goals of the Kickstarter are not essential components of Endzone 2 but rather additional features that we can offer on top to make Endzone 2 even more extensive and exciting.

A detailed explanation of the goals and motivations will be available once the Kickstarter page goes live.
