Detonation plan magnets can't be moved
I was really looking forward to a long point and click adventure until the detonation plan puzzle. I was moving the magnets but didn't solve the puzzle yet when I had to leave. I saved the game and quit. When I reloaded, I found that I couldn't move the magnets on the detonation plan anymore. They reset to their starting positions on the top left corner and can't be moved. Hitting spacebar also doesn't reveal the screws to interact with them. This bug is extremely disruptive and one that would honestly make me stop playing this game especially if more are expected later on in the story.

The game was released 12 years ago - A lot of things have changed since then, used tools being outdated (and several big updates being needed for any changes), development teams changing or being let go completely etc. You can't expect patches/fixes for a 12 year old game - this is just not feasible, for noone.

What we already did, though, when the Magnet Problem got noticed the first time, was creating savefiles for you to download to solve this as a walk-around - You can find them here: https://www.daedalicsupport.com/en/games/deponia/savegames.html

If I see it correctly, you want to download savegame06 (or savegame05 if you want to jump in one step earlier).

Disappointing that this has stopped my progress. Will probably just uninstall as the music was getting annoying anyway.

The message.log reports: [ACTIONS] -> action: 1008_setLightmap not found! and [ACTIONS] -> action: 1008_set_music not found!
There seems to be a file missing?

I think they read some of them but this particular issue has been going on since 2013 at least. It was game breaking for me so I uninstalled it. Unfortunately they already took my money.

Hi there, the bug with the detonation Plan is quiet annoying. And loading a savegame from their website with lots of achievements gone did not satisfy me. So i dug a bit deeper.
You need the detonation plan to get the three guys waiting before the mayors office out of town hall, so you'll be next in line. If the detonations are close to there homes, they will leave. Doing that one of them will lose his ticket. You pick it up and you are next.
The ticket is an achievement stored in the savegame file. You can simply turn it on using an hex editor. Afterwards the guys are still sitting in the town hall and you don't have the second tickt in your inventory, but you can enter the mayors office and proceed with the game.
Take your last savegame file (location is "C:\Users\*your username*\AppData\Local\Daedalic Entertainment\Deponia\savegames" for windows where "your username" should be filled with the windows user name). Savegame files are named "savegamexx.dat" where the latest has the highest number. Same with bookmark files, which are autosaves.
Make a backup copy of the savegamefile you want to edit and store it somewhere safe, so you can reedit the original file if somewith goes wrong. Open the hex editor of your choice and look for a string named:"Wartenummer_2_genommen". This meas "ticket numer 2 taken". The hexdump is reading "00 5D 11 00 00 10 00 00 00 FF FF FF FF 00 12 00 00 00". You have to change it to "00 5D 11 00 00 10 00 00 00 FF FF FF FF 01 12 00 00 00" and the ticket ist yours. Don't forget to save the file. Now start Deponia, load the savegame and proceed. The detonation plan is still not working, but it is not needed anymore.

@janlosansky Thanks for that workaround but my issue with it is that there are other game breaking bugs like this in the Deponia series and I'd rather not invest that much time in a long adventure game to find more walls I can't get past later down the line. Based on the company's response to this issue here, you can see that they won't take it seriously. The fact is, this game is broken. It was released in this state and instead of fixing it, they provide save files for us to load from. That is ridiculous. I'm fairly certain I won't be buying anything else from Daedalic again.

I bought the game for 99 cents, so it did cost almost nothing. And I liked playing it. So instead of giving up I found a solution to finish the game and it was worth it. By now I have an idea of how the savegames work and if another bug will arise in one of the other Deponia games I will find a solution. Even with a company not supporting the games anymore they are fun to play.
