blacksmith crafting dosen't automatically detect items in my chest

so with cooking and wood crafting i dont need to have the items in my inventory to be able to craft stuff, but for some reason the blacksmith table in town (where March is) cannot detect what i have in my chest at my farm and i am unable to craft items. i always have to have my ores in my inventory to craft ingots

Each chest has some symbols at the top of them, one of which is a chest. Clicking it switches it to a closed position and an open position with an arrow coming out of it. The open with an arrow means that things will use what's in that chest when crafting etc.

they really need to label that, the number of questions people have had about that button dwarfs pretty much anything else

yeah I agree, I only figured it by chance when I was like "Wtf does this button mean" I just clicked it a bunch and then later I couldn't blacksmith and remembered the button I had pressed on my chest
