That being said, I have seen some people dislike the mechanic due to feeling like "homewrekcers" who interfere with pre-destined pairs. Heck, many have abandoned their plans to marry either Juniper or Valen cause they feel like those two should hook up instead.
I could def see that so fair enough xD I was never inclined to marry so I was happy to let them pair up in animal parade but when I played with a friend who DID like relationships we married wizard so we wouldn’t step on anyone’s toes
To be fair, I don’t think it’s any more stressful than the regular relationship mechanics as long as there’s not some kind of hard deadline(or a system that’s aggressive, that’s not my intention). I personally find all the typical farming sim relationship mechanics really stressful (gifting, keeping track of birthdays, talking every day….In Mistria I don’t talk to anyone except on Fridays and just farm and mine every day) so I find it nice when I can engage in the mechanic in a way that I enjoy (having romances I don’t have to be involved in, and seeing nice character interactions)…I do think it should be something you opt into rather than forced onto people though! I understand it’s not everyone’s cup of tea
My only experience with this kind of mechanic was in Littlewood, where characters pair up by default if neither of them are married to you, and it was really fun/cute to see who the "canon" relationships were.
I wish this aspect can be enhanced more to make the game stands out more than Stardew. Since this game already force players to do community work in order to unlock mounts, I think adding healthy competition into writing would encourage farmers more.
Ooooo that’s interesting! Story of seasons had competitions for plots of land in that game and I wasn’t the biggest fan because those plots were required in order to grow certain crops, but some friction seems like it could be fun! I’m still in my first year, do they have festival competitions here like other farm sims? I did like the spring festival where you had to collect points for doing things around…I’m gonna win next year! 😤😤
Oh my gosh that sound very annoying. XD I don't think it will happen in Mistria.
