Lantern Moths
IDC if this has been discussed multiple times, I wanna be able to enjoy the game without searching for big foot (aka the impossible). Why is something as simple as a lantern moth not even spawning in the game? I get its early access, but if you knew that item was going to be needed, why make it impossible to find. I get not wanting to make some things easy but this is damn ridiculous. I'm in fall year one and I have NEVER seen a lantern moth this whole game play. Not exaggerating either. So instead of driving myself to insanity finding something that will probably not show up, I decided to just make a post about it and hope the devs listen. IG this will be another 'shelved game' until they patch this bug. I wish it didn't have to be this way because I just experience a death in my family and this was my get away.

I've caught multiple of them in the <8 hours of my latest save, are you sure you're looking in the right location? It's in the mines level 1-19 only.
i'm having the same issue right now lol. I caught one when i first went into the mines and donated it to museum. I reached mine lvl 20 like day 18 of spring and I've been going through 1-19 to complete the quest. I got everything except the moth. just started summer and haven't seen a lantern moth since. (I didnt go to mines everyday tho, a lot of fishing and social days too).

you'll find lantern moths in the upper mines. it's pretty common, I regularly get a couple when I do an upper mine run.

Good luck buddy !

just a note : I understand frustration, but calling something "impossible" or "a bug" just because you don't know where to look isn't really productive. The only thing to fix is your lack of knowledge, I hope this thread solved it.:twopointcured:

Appreciate the passive aggression, but it most certainly is NOT pretty common. A simple google search on your end will show that many players are not able to find this thing easily.
Quite common for me as well. Currently at thirteen game years and have accumulated over two hundred of these cute moths :)
Having the same issue here. Found one at the beginning of the game, donated to museum. Have found one or two since, but ever since reaching level 20 and actually needing one, I keep going to the mines and not finding any. I have all other 3 but the moth won't spawn,
Can't it be made purchaseable from Balor once you reach a certain mining level?

Edit: Eventually got one by grinding levels in the cave. However when I caught it it wasn't ticked as donated to the museum, thought I'd mention that in case it's any help. At this point I'd rather sacrifice one item on the museum checklist than be stuck without advancing ingame though.

what are you talking about lol, I have given answer on where to find them and been expressly supportive. Also shared my own experience on finding them.

I would say regularly getting a couple means pretty common. you are free to disagree but I stand by that definition. Especially when a couple is all you need (one for the museum and another for the mine offering).

While it's true that OP could have done a "google search" on the topic, some people prefer asking on forums. If you are not interested in answering them then don't answer but the toxicity isn't needed. It's the whole point of forums to do exactly what OP did and ask questions, why even be here if you are not interested in forum discussions ? a mystery to me.

So, you didn't help OP in any way but just came to be aggressive towards people who help OP and are supportive to them and you dare calling these people aggressive, This is my last answer to this nonsense because I don't see any other utility but "trolling" or "flamebait" or whatever it's called these days.

They're irritatingly rare, that's true (Salmence on YouTube has a playthrough on the first build from August where he hunts for a lantern moth for a lot longer than good game design would generally call for, for example).

But "rare" and 'nonexistent" are two different beasts, and having done a playthrough on both the August initial build and the fall update and run into a similar issue—having to run those 20 levels of the mines too often for it to feel right to get one for the unlock and another for the museum—I do agree that the devs need to buff the spawn rate of that moth specifically. Hopefully it's addressed in the patch notes for the March update.

I've been looking for this stupid moth for more than 2 in game weeks now. They just wont spawn in the mines T.T Literally ignoring every other job, because I just cannot proceed without it.

Only found the one I needed to advance in the mines exactly on the penultimate Friday at the inn, in summer. Missed the event because I went straight to saving the game, afraid of losing that "blessed" moth. Just remembered when it saved the next day, but no way I would go back a save and look for it again. :')
