Fields of Mistria

Fields of Mistria

How long to beat right now?
I wonder how much content the game provides today, in early access?

I want to buy Fields of Mistra, but I can only play one game at a time. The other game in question is Coral Island. How does this game compare to that?

I will probably own both games eventually, so it isn't about which game is better overall.

Thanks.

To get through all current story milestones, I'd say 20 to 30 hours. To complete the museum and whatever social links you care about, I don't know.

Personally, I'd say Mistria will absolutely be the better game when it is completed. As it is, it is missing some of the big features people care about (like romance) entirely, but what is there is charming and enjoyable. Coral Island is (allegedly) a finished game, but to me feels charmless and tedious.

YMMV of course.

Thanks for your opinion. 20-30+hours sound more than I thought at this phase of the game.

Are there some more opinions?

I play it for a few hours and I'm more hooked with it than with Coral Island. I hope it will leave the early access soon.

So it doesn't matter if we reach the full hearts with the romancable characters? It changes nothing? No dates?

Yeah. AFAIK there are no dates, no romance, no marriages, at this point in time.

I have both sets and at the moment I think you will like Coral better.

I don't want to say that Field is bad, but right now it has less content.

In Field you still can't have relationships, get married, children, it only has a house expansion... Basically Field right now is more focused on those who like to complete museums, raise skills... But the social and historical part is missing a lot.

To my taste it's an early game that still has a long way to go.

Coral, on the other hand, is still being updated and is much more advanced in these aspects.

At the moment I'm playing Coral while I wait for Field to advance more to play it.

I think both are very good games if you like the genre, but there is no hurry for Field. It still has a long way to go until it comes out of early, so in the meantime you can play Coral or another farm game that catches your attention.

I've spent allot of time in coral island (hoping it would get better the more i played) and honestly I regret it. It's not finished, the npcs are very shallow/boring with pretty terrible heart events (thou they look pretty) and I felt like when I completed something I just wasted my time to get 'this npc has nothing to say to you today' or just a shallow boring event. It feels like a 3d stardew without the charm of stardew. Definitely more content in coral island but like the first person said very shallow gameplay (for example there's no reason to have a health bar in the mines as nothing can really kill you unless you try really hard and going through them is very tedious and uninteresting.)

This is just my opinion and there are many who like coral island. For me the charm of the npc's in fields of mistra, the magic, Fridays at the inn, have me screaming for more. You cannot get married and have kids yet unfortunately but even with less content for me I feel like I haven't wasted my time like i did in coral island.

Is there anything better than Silver already?

I haven't played Coral Island, but I've got 56 hours and counting in Fields of Mistria and I still haven't finished the available content (museum rewards, heart levels).

I have around 200hrs in coral island and it may have more to do atm, I'd agree with others that it does feel shallow in some areas and a bit tedious, I have not messed with the underwater farming or anything yet though. My gripe with Mist would be time goes too fast and I almost feel rushed and behind, even though I'm not, once a time adjustment comes out that will solve my issue. I tend to do romance later after establishing myself in the game so no biggie for me.

As of now, you could probably speedrun all of the current content pretty quickly, but chances are that's not going to be readily apparent to new players and you'll spend a lot more time figuring out new things and optimizing. As other people have mentioned, the time speed is set fast enough that you'll need to spend a lot of days fumbling around until you've learned how to get what you want.

I love Fields of Mistria, but it is only one update in, it is very much a work in progress and that is fine, so I give it a lot of grace.

If you like magic & combat with your farming sim, Sun Haven is a lot of fun.
Very well developed game. Oh, and dragons. Big dragons.

I also play Coral Island, and I concur that the mines are a little silly there.
Fields of Mistria mines are a lot of fun so far! Lots of variety.

The overall game-play is substantively different than other games, so it is really a hit or miss - if you like the game style, then it is a great game. As I usually ignore the social aspects of games, I can say that Coral Island is very fulfilling for narrative, especially now the main story-line has been fairly fleshed out.

Coral island is a much more complete game so I would recommend that at the moment as it is a complete experience whereas this is still early in development, so picking this up at a later date will result in more content and a better experience. Also you can play coral island on xbox gamepass which is pretty good.
Coral Island is "more complete" but, in my humble opinion, just has so little charm i'd still recommend Mistria over it. Half of a good game is better than 100% of a bad one.

YMMV on that tho. Go for Stardew or Sun Haven instead, I'd say.
