Fields of Mistria

Couple questions before I buy.
Hi guys, I typically enjoy RPG Farm sims, particularly Rune Factory over something like Harvest moon. Especially when I'm given combat and a magic system, which my GF who also enjoys these types of games told me Fields of Mistra does have, but had very little information. So I tried to check the wiki and it seems... Incomplete??? Unsure if that is a feature of early access, or if there is a better hub players use for game knowledge.

-So I guess first question is how expansive is the magic system? Or How expansive does it intend to be by the end of early access?

-Second question does this game force you to sleep? One of the reasons why I've generally preferred Rune Factory over Stardew was the whole "forcing me to sleep" thing, I like to be able to pull an all nighter with the chance of a de-buff rather than just being forced to stop and taking some penalty even though I'm like a foot from my bed. It's not a deal breaker, especially if I get better art (I honestly love the art style here) but it is something that I'd rather know going in.

Thanks~

Yes, you are forced to sleep and get a pretty severe penalty for passing out.

This game is incomplete and so far the magic system seems to be a couple of spells that I quite honestly always forget to use because the mana regin for them is very slow.

The magic summoned horse is quite lovely.

You do pass out but it's not super early. The penalty is not that bad. You don't loose stuff, you just wake up late with less energy that you can easily replenish with food or going to the bath house.

Agree the magic is almost not there. I do hope they expand on it more. I'd love some battle spells and such(assuming they add a way to replenish it faster or on demand). Right now it's water all your crops in the morning is all that is worth doing, but can't every morning.

We don't get weapon choices either, combat is basic. A sword to swing. I would love if they add options. Really need at least get some sort of ranged for people who don't want to smack projectiles with a sword.

Even though it's not done and has some rough spots like the above, it's a great game. The social aspects feel a lot better than Stardew and many others, like you can talk to people multiple times a day, if you run into them again, and they talk to and interact with each other much more and more realistically.

It is more like an "emergency button" more than "I cast Fireball!", or "Blink". The easily accessible one will be Full Restore and Instant Rain (which denies Farming XP).

Time flows faster in FoM, Fishing also do not pause the game. You will wake up at 10 am, so it is actually a heavy penalty. Walking back to home is always worth it.

========
A lot of players complained time flow, but as long as players know what they are doing, the time flow for early Spring is actually not terrible. Players get to Save during anytime inside Farmhouse, however.

I personally find FoM to be a more RNG-based game when compared to Stardew, despite FoM looks like "better Stardew" or "Stardew with QoL" at the first glance. This is because of the Treasure Chest mechanic you will figure out.

Considering how fast the day flies by and how quickly you spend energy, I think it's a rather harsh penalty. If they respond to player feedback and slow time down it won't feel as punishing.

The social aspects are really nice.
