Fields of Mistria

Fields of Mistria

Are we the baddies here?
Are we doing a Bad Thing by undoing all these seals in the mines and whatnot? Is this Shadow of the Colossus, where we are actually releasing some horrible monstrosity?

They did make the whole atmosphere of these seals very sinister. That Juniper is your main help for the quests doesn't help.

Especially the Fire Seal. Between the Sealing Scroll and Caladrius manifesting ...

I hadn't thought about this until last night when I was playing, but my 90s gamer memories sparked and I was like "wait, am I in a MacGuffin Delivery Service situation here?" How many Big Bads in 16-bit-era JRPGs said some variation on BAHAHAHAHA! You have removed the barrier! Now I can summon the eldritch abomination and TAKE OVER THE WORLD!

... and lets be honest, that would not be out of character for Juniper...

I'm betting on the resurrection of the Witch queen.
There's something really weird goin' on with the dragon priestess. Maybe Caladrus too was sealed as a sacrifice to banish the evil dragon/witch queen or something. There's also the fact that there's a third dragon statue that appeared with the new update which is not Caladrus... And some hints to a secret floating landmass somewhere... The theories are theorizing...
I think its worth wondering truly what is sealed and WHY. I think you're right lol. My headcanon theory is the priestess is some human form of the "Unknown dragon" from the Unknown Dragon Statue artifact, since Caldarus has it as a hated gift, there's probably some animosity. Maybe she's evil? Maybe she's sealed and forgotten? Maybe it's all some ploy to get us to unseal her?

Good thought. The Dragon Priestess cosmetic set doesn't really resemble Caladrus, so there's that too. And those out-of-reach gravemarkers in the Deep Woods... not suspicious in the slightest...

Cal himself is likely fine. He's sweet an gentle and was basically threatening his own health for the player.

And that armor that Eiland is trying to find, it's called the 'Dragonsworn Armor'... where does that fit in? What's a 'Dragonsworn'?

I'm not sure Caldarus and the Priestess are enemies. There are a couple statues of the her right outside Caldarus' house...

Pretty sure Caldarus is living in her house. If you talk to him he refers to reading her scrolls at some point.

Sorry I wasn't really clear, what I'm thinking is that the "Priestess" we see in the mines is a total ruse. She just seems suspicious to me. Too convenient, and she's the one who keeps encouraging us to break the seals.

Those 'Dragon Priestess' statues don't really look like her, now that I think on it...

Is it just me or is there massive tonal whiplash between the Dragon Priestess/mines questline and the main quest, like a country music radio station and a hip-hop station trying to broadcast on the same frequency at the same time and overlapping each other?

I am genuinely curious just how the cozy goodvibes of the main above-ground quest and the sinister undertones of the mines quest are supposed to vibe with each other. Maybe sometimes a spade is just a spade and rather than a thrilling dramatic conflict we'll get some "cozy" Get-Along Gang situation where the dragon magic makes Mistria the happiest place in the whole of the kingdom and six-foot mouse people cheerfully guide people to the magic princess's castle for the fireworks show every night?

If that's the case...ewwww, give me the Sealed Evil in a Can version, that sounds way more fun.
