Fields of Mistria

Fields of Mistria

March 10th update survey!
Will you continue to play your current save?
or start over for the QoL features the next update has?
(In-game time adjustment/sprinklers etc)

I am seriously debating this question myself!
As I know I could accomplish my goals more efficiently and enjoyably with longer days.

But, do I really want to play 200 hours over again to get back to where I am now?

Decisions, decisions.

What will you do?

ThX for reading!

I am genuinely wanting to see a few actual game balancing on next Patch. Such as actually intended Fishing XP gain for getting Legendary Fish asap. Since there is no "Quality" mechanic, the fishing XP gain will be just a flat or very slow increase across the skill levels.

Little things like those affect how the game overall meant to be played. I prefer not to rely on the game speed slider to "balance" the game, but rather the intended "challenging" way. If early game has drastically balanced, then I will go back from zero.

Although many players don't want start from zero, that's what I did to Stardew Valley 1.6 and it was fun.

I'm continuing. I don't see any content that would have been missed during game-play (like early story content). Everything coming can be added new to what's already accomplished.

new player here, just bought the game but saw an update is coming next month, would yall recommend to wait for the update to drop first before starting? Thank you!
@JKatarn

Personally, I think the quality of life features that will be added in the next update are worth waiting for. Many things like sprinklers will change how you play
(how much you can do in a day Vs. now)

Hence my post debating starting over even if it's not technically "required" as
it seems my current save should be playable.
I'm just going to continue my save. Currently there isn't much to do in my game besides make money and lvl up friendships so I am basically saving as much money and resources as I can to hopefully use for the update!

I'm planning on doing both. I'll keep going with my current character but I'll also start a new character and maybe do some comparisons. It will be a little tricky since the saves will be in the same directory. Just need to remember to save via the journal since the sleeping save auto writes over the current save.
I’m just going to wipe it. I havent played it in a few months and i really want to start from scratch with the longer playing hours. 15 to 20 minutes per day (or less i dont remember the exact rate) was nowhere near enough to really enjoy playing this.

I stopped playing quite a long time ago and decided to wait until they put out an update that allowed you to alter time. I'm looking forward to coming back to the game now that is happening.

I'm going to start a new save and see if the game grabs me with the ability to slow time. I was left kinda cold by the last playthrough I did because of the pacing, and that would've been a dealbreaker if the devs hadn't compensated for it.

It doesn't even need to be a particularly severe slowdown—I had the same issue with Roots of Pacha, and they changed their day length from 15 to 20 minutes with a menu item. Those five minutes (or 33 percent, if you prefer) ended up being the "this should've been the default pacing" sweet spot. I think Mistria's similar—raise the day length by about 40-50 percent (say, 18 minutes instead of the current 12.5) and that'd be enough.

Of course, if they allow even longer to stretch out and have some fun and talk to everyone every day and fish and make best use of the stamina spell/bathhouse, that's never a _bad_ thing.
Going to start a new game, super excited to play the game when it updates!

I have not played since September so I will be starting over.

Screw it might just play it tonight...
I would totally save your current file, it doesnt take too long to re-adjust your farm to fit the new update. It's also one of those never-ending kind of deals where it's no big deal if you miss some stuff early access.
I haven't played in a while, so I'm going to start fresh. The best way to experience the new stuff!
