It would also be nice if we could place fences right to the edge of the water.
to prevent escaping animals.
For reference I moved my animal buildings to the farm expansion plot and had hoped to place a single line of fence from the top of the farm plot wall (by the waterfall) all the way down to the river at the bottom of the plot.
Unfortunately due to the fence not being able to be placed right up to the waters edge, this fence setup does not keep the animals from escaping to the rest of the farm.
In theory if a gate could be placed next to the bridge making it so the animals can't get through we wouldn't even need a fence.
