I hate the fighting, especially fighting the rock monsters
They take like no damage and just chip away at your health, if you try to stun lock them eventually you push them up against a wall where instead of hitting them you swing wildly behind them while they can still hit you.

Directionally things just are frustrating. Getting stuck swinging one way while something is in another direction, the same with farming when you're trying to water a row and it keeps trying to water the wrong direction. Then trying to walk up to a mound to dig, you need to click it with the mouse instead of facing it and interacting with the tool.

It would be more helpful if the character always faced towards where the mouse was for actions like fighting, and interacting.

I think the combat is fine, it's certainly more interesting than I was expecting from a game like this.

Most of the monsters are really easy if you take 5 seconds to learn their patterns and have the tiniest amount of patience.
i loved the combat for this exact same reason! fighting the monsters is relatively easy once you learn and take a second to figure out how to attack their weak spots. i love it!

The combat in this game is the worst part. None of the enemies are particular tough, but they're all annoying. They all have some sort of mechanic that you're forced to wait for an attack opening or a counter. Not ideal.

Fortunately, the rest of the game is really good, so it's not a deal breaker, but I would like to see the combat be a little better. I'm hoping for something similar to Rune Factory combat - maybe not great, but it's not actively bad.

literally the only one is the rock monster you have to wait for an opening. The mushrooms and everything else you can air stomp easier than swing the sword, this will probably change when the game actually releases from EA anyway. Combat isn't the main focus and it's just there to be a way to get additional crafting ingredients.

I think so too, but I'm pretty happy with the direction they are going. This is by far my fave when it comes to implementing combat and the mines in farming/builder sim games. RE4 was a war of attrition for me with how grindy it felt. Constantly having to grind your gear, Because in the end it was a numbers game and less can be more. ( I play action-rpgs and whatnot. Currently I play STALKER GAMMA and Path of Exile. RE4's combat wasn't it. I'm surprised by how far I made it with my ♥♥♥♥ gear until I hit the roadblock. Combat was fun at first, but got worse the more I played it)

Now if they only iron out the junk of the controls and target selection then I think a lot more people woudn't struggle so much with combat.
