Having ten (twelve, actually, since there are two "secret" ones) is a large number as it stands. If these ones get really nicely done plotlines and are fleshed out well? That's a lot of choice. If adding more candidates means that there will be less focus, attention, and effort put into the current roster, it's not a good thing.
I posted this topic base on many others I have read.
Thank you for your input.
I’d rather have solidly built love interests with interesting dynamics over a plethora of ones that aren’t highlighted as much. From what I’ve seen, I love the platonic relationships with various villagers too, and feel that if they aren’t romanceable, that is an active choice by the devs.
Some more might get added later. Overall it feels like a well-rounded cast. Normally I have a love interest in mind and this game is making it too difficult to pick in advance, haha!
But...but...Venti tries to win your heart with the power of garbage! Best waifu ever!
(supposedly she's finally getting proper romance options in the upcoming 1.4 update, but otherwise your point is absolutely spot on.)
I've said it before in regards to this game, but I'd love for there to be a scene with Olric where the player asks why he's always playing wingman for March and he reveals that he's asexual and aromantic. It'd be a nice bit of representation in a genre where every NPC is hot for the player who isn't married or older than the hills (and sometimes not even restricted by that latter case.)
The upper age range of gamers is only going to go up. The gamers who were in their 30s when I was a kid are in their 50s now, and they were hardly the oldest gamers at the time too. Just a thought.
That would be great. A cool in addition would be if some could be non-romantic roommates, like krobus in Stardew. I'd love some non-romantic options where you could still partner up.
But just giving the explanation that Olric is aromatic would be great. I'm asexual bi-romantic myself but the representation would be
On topic I don't mind most games not having older people to date. Most present a story that pushes you as a young adult yourself and I don't mind mentally putting that as my role in games. But if they wanted to make older romance-ables I'm not against it either.
I got an NES for Christmas '88. I was 11. I'm...a lot older than 11 now.
I would love to be able to set my character's age during character creation so that I'd be too old for the younger romanceables but able to carry on a relationship with the older folks (or the younger but not TOO much younger women to be a dad later in life.)
One reason I never really got into the Persona games is that I feel like I should be put on a registry if I'm playing a game that's partially about lusting over high school girls. I'm too old for that series.
