Fields of Mistria

Fields of Mistria

Add ways to get access to store-bought or randomly found cooking ingredients (and more!)
Honey, salt, oil, curry powder...
And even soy sauce...
You can find some of them randomly from chests, but even that is way too rare and requires way too much time and luck with RNG to be a reliable source.
After a year in game I was not lucky enough to get any soy sauce (on current save), and only got 3 bottles of oil - total. That's not something I can be content with, even if I need to cook every dish once (say, for future achievement), and especially not if I want to keep cooking with all those other raw ingredients I am fishing/growing/finding.
So... Why not add into the game ways to grow/mine/produce them reliably on our own?

For example - we now have sunflowers. At the moment they are only useful for gifting (and only 3 people like it) and cooking (and you lose money on that recipe). But in RL sunflower oil is a thing, and a popular one. So - why not add that to the mill production list? Or maybe make a press or something like in other games?

Honey - we already have bees, and they are very common. So why not make a way to "domesticate" them (nod to Graveyard Keeper), and then - maybe make a flavored honey if you grow flowers next to the hives (like in Stardew). But there's already a thread about that...

Salt - comes from the mines at deeper levels, maybe? Or a surface deposit, maybe in that not-unlocked yet Forest, or one of those little caves that are blocked for now?

Soy sauce - add soy beans as a crop, and add fermentation? Would also be good for wine (and we already have grapes!) Would be nice if we can grow our own grapes too, btw...

Curry powder - none of the required ingredients are in the game as of now, but would it be too hard to add a few more spices as crops - or even as forage? Maybe in the Forest?
Or maybe it doesn't even has to be similar list! Sweet root, for example, may replace ginger. Or finally have some use for many different flowers (and btw, marigold is edible in RL)... Why not, after all?

And another thing that ties into all that...
We have a skill that makes forage drops seeds - nice, very nice!
But it's still very rare, and you still can grow it only once, and only in one season. Having something like a greenhouse where I can grow those very rare plants out of season (and especially those that are regrowable!) would be awesome. For example, I've only found one sage plant in the first year summer... Hypothetically, if I got a seed drop from that, and if it regrows - I can plant it in a greenhouse and have access to it forever, without need to hunt around the map. It would still require to get a seed drop (or be lucky with Balor's stock) but it would be better than having to search whole map in the corresponding season.
Also - would be nice to have something like a seed maker, or at least a way to get all those seeds from, say, Balor (even at a premium if it regrows!)
Same goes for mushrooms (morels especially), and fiddleheads.

And why not to also add a way to farm fish too? Fish ponds - it would be awesome even for just growing seaweed (need a lot of it for crafting animal feed, btw), and some more rare fishes too (instead of spending hours fishing and getting tons of the same goby/gar/whatever else).

I know that all of that is a lot to ask for, and that the game is in early access...
But - why not add it all in the future? One thing at a time, with one update and the next, gradually...
yes, Fields of Mistria is already an awesome game - but it can be so much better...

Totally agree with this. One thing I like most about farm sims is being able to be self sufficient. I don’t like having to buy things to craft or cook certain stuff or having it be somewhat luck based just for one drop when I need multiple. I really love that they added a cooking skill, however it is a bit disappointing that I can only craft so much without spending money on the resources. I think it’s the same with crafting certain types of furniture, it just feels a bit too grindy, especially with the days being so short…
