Animals Walk Through Fences?

Are animals supposed to be able to walk through fences? I surrounded my barns and coops with fences to keep them out of my crop fields but I've watched them pass right through them. Also, if I don't watch the entire group exit the building when I call them out (for example if I enter another barn right after ringing the bell), it seems like some of them go through the back instead as they'll end up behind the building, often outside the fence that runs along the back of my barns. Are these bugs or intentional design? Over all absolutely loving the game by the way. This 'early release' puts some full games to shame!

I think is a bug. I used to build my coop and barn side to side and the coop animals got a bug that they were inside the barn and wouldn't walk to the crops I planted for them to eat.

I have had a couple times where one of them would just disappear until I called them all back into the barn. Is there a thread to report issues?

I moved the fence further away from the barns/coops to prevent this.
