Missing Game Executable??
I bought and downloaded it a little while back, and I was able to play it for a bit but when I started looking at mods, I think maybe I did something that fudged it all up? I've tried re-installing, making sure Fields of Mistria is allowed through my firewall, verifying, uninstalling and reinstalling again, but nothing is working. Everytime I try to play, it just says missing game executable. For what time I did get to play, I really enjoyed it and I don't want to refund it or anything but I don't know what to do now.

uninstalling and reinstalling again,
Did you do that manually? Deleting the game folder? If not, then please do so and then verify the game files.

Same thing happened to me. I tried verifying the files, reinstalling, deleting the game folder manually and verifying again or just deleting the .exe file from the folder and nothing works despite the files getting re-downloaded like they should.

Did you two install mods by annanomoly. Their mods use the auri loader. Due to the nature of the game's engine it accesses the registry files on windows.

You could catch them on the unofficial FoM discord in the top comment

This did work! Oh thank goodness. Thanks for that, I was totally lost lol! Glad to play again.
Hoping someone can help me with this as I'm having the same issue! Except even before fully installing the mods and their necessities, I didn't proceed and deleted anything that went through (as I was anxious since I kept getting a warning saying it was corrupt). Now as a result - my game will not start at ALL. Everything related to the mods has been removed, verified files over and over, updated everything on my computer, uninstalled and reinstalled the game - same message. Wondering if anyone knows what else I can try?!

The Auriloader will most likely get flagged by any antivirus/firewall since it accesses the registry of Windows. I can't be helped because of the engine the game uses. My guess is that during the process of smashing some mods on your game and then deciding to remove them the uninstall process of them was dirty.

So... you could try installing a mod by annanomoly that requires the auriloader via MOMI. See if you get the game to start, then properly uninstall the mods via MOMI. (Step 3 in the pinned comment of that Nexus link I posted here)

Just wanted to put a step by step tutorial for anyone who had problems with the mods by annonomoly, if you still want to keep them, here you go!

Step 1: Check if Windows Defender Quarantined AurieLoader.exe
1. Open Windows Security:
- Press `Windows + S`, type "Windows Security", and open it.
- Alternatively, click the shield icon in the system tray (bottom-right corner).

2. Go to Virus & threat protection:
- Click on "Protection history" (under "Current threats" or in the sidebar).

3. Look for AurieLoader.exe in the list:
- If it was blocked, you’ll see an entry like "Threat quarantined" or "Removed".

Step 2: Restore AurieLoader.exe (if deleted)
1. In Protection history, click on the entry for AurieLoader.exe.
2. Click "Actions" and select "Restore".
- This will return the file to its original location.

Step 3: Add the Game Folder as an Exclusion (to prevent future deletions)
1. Go back to Virus & threat protection in Windows Security.
2. Click "Manage settings" under "Virus & threat protection settings".
3. Scroll down and click "Add or remove exclusions".
4. Click "+ Add an exclusion" and select "Folder".
5. Browse to the game’s folder (e.g.):
```
C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Fields of Mistria
```
6. Click "Select Folder" to add it to exclusions.

Step 4: Reinstall AurieLoader (if missing)
If the file wasn’t in quarantine or restoring failed:
1. Re-download the Aurie Framework or the mod package.
2. Place `AurieLoader.exe` back in the game’s folder.

And that's all! :steamhappy:
