I haven't played this yet, just bought it to check it out. I always peep new farming sims to see if they have that magic Stardew/Harvestmoon captured for me. So far nothing is quite sticking, and I can bet this will be the same.
If this game is as good as Stardew though, like a clone... and I get a new story, NPCs, and landscapes, then this is a win for me. Unless it has boring characters and a trash story. Just want to escape my life for a bit with a new one, and grow stuff.
My pumpkin patch IRL isn't giving me the serotonin as fast as a farming sim does.
These games are all in the same very niche genre. They're going to have a lot of similarities. If you got enough mileage out of Stardew/Rune Factory or any other existing title in this genre then obviously you don't need to pick up a new one.
I will say the only thing I'd say is a bit more "copied" from stardew is the HUD layout specifically. It still feels like a different game to me, as I dont ever go "dang im better off just playing stardew" but just blowing this game off for being a stardew clone is a bit much.
Like how the creator from Stardew was inspired by Harvest Moon, these devs seem like they've been inspired by Stardew with how the mechanics work, and older style Harvest Moon for the general feel of the art style, but are still adding their own systems and flavors to the game. Big fan of leaning more into animal care/customization if the full version expands in it like they seem to.
But yeah in the end, stardew is not even an original idea in of itself so cant judge this one for the same thing lol
It has ranching, farming, mining, fishing and heart levels. That's... basic farming sim framework.
Is this pixel art? Yes.
Does it have similarities to Stardew? Depends.
It is in the farming genre, they're all going to have core elements that are similar as time goes on. Harvest Moon used to be about farming and getting a life. There are many more factors now, decorating, customization, freedom of choices, etc. So yes, Mistria has some of these elements. But to say it's more like one game versus others in the genre, I'd say no.
SDV =/= HM. You mustn't have played much in the genre to not understand the differences between the games.
