Livestock eating crops
Will livestock eat your crops if you don't put a fence around them?

As far as I can tell, my cows haven't touched my crops while they're roaming around

I was wondering the same. I remember Hayden saying that he needed to put a fence to stop his chicken from eating his all his corn, but i'm not sure if it was meant in jest or not.

I let mine free roam and they seem to just eat the grass as far as I can tell. Interested to hear from someone who doesn't have any grass left to see if they eat your crops.

I've had chickens eat cranberries, and animals will eat corn and carrots if you hand feed them.

People say if you plant crops near them they will eat that and still drop beads. My crops aren't near enough to them for them to wander over and eat them, so I've never had any vanish. Though I mostly quit even letting them out but once I get a big bell putting them away shouldn't be as hard so can let them out again and try planting some crops for them.

Animals can eat ready crop, but if the grass is closer they start to eat grass. So if you want them to eat ready crop you need to place fields for them closer. Animals love raw crop that grows 9 days (cost 180 coins only) - they give for them 6 beads - pumpkin, radish daikon, watermelon, cabbage.

Animals can eat only READY harvest, they cannot eat half-ripe sprouts. They leave beads on the field in reward: 6 beads - 9 days crop and, as I recall, 4 beads - 6 days crop, 2 beads - 4 days crop.

But 16 animals eat 16 crop per say - so this solution (9-day crop) is only for a few days - I use it on Friday/Saturday/if necessary (and then replenish eaten slots more till 19 number of the season as the last day for 9-day crop).

Mostly I just feed them by hand with pumpkin, radish daikon all the time - 6 beads.

And if your animals eat from your crop from your main big field and give yousome beads this will not a catastrophe, because your crop is the cheapest thing that you can feed your animals, and for 100 beads you can exchange 2 golden cookies from the hen statue and sell them for 5000 coins. You will in profit anyway.

So if you harvest your crops before you let the animals out you're golden? Nice to know if so.

If your crop is ready, you need to pet your animals first and then let them out to eat your ready crop, when they eat one ready crop item they leave you beads on the fields.

If you plant a crop that will ripen in 9 days (pumpkin, radish daikon, watermelon, cabbage), then for the first 8 days it is not ready, animals cannot eat it. So if your crop is not ready, you need both pet and feed your animals in the barn and then let animals out - they will not eat anything on your fields now - they are full.

16 animals * 6 beads = 96 beads per day. If you are lucky you can exchange 100 beads for 2 golden cookies/cheesecakes with the hen statue = so you can earn only for beads about 5000 coins per day or get other usefull things.

I have more than 1 600 000 coins in that way. Also it is profitable to sell crop (that replenish every 3 days because you pay for seeds only once) and cook high price dishes with 0 cooking time for sell.
