1. Make sure Windows is completely up to date. Check for optional updates too.
2. Make sure your graphics drivers are also completely up to date. Nvidia/AMD/etc.
3. Completely remove the Fields of Mistria folder from C:\Users\AppData\Local\FieldsOfMistria
4. Uninstall the game after all of that and re-install. (See if it works from that)
If you STILL have that Visual C++ Runtime error: uninstall the game again, download the latest version here (https://aka.ms/vs/17/release/vc_redist.x64.exe), install that, restart the computer after it's done then install the game again and give it a go.
when i first started playing the game i had a crash about 1 hour in. so i started manually saving after each day went by
i noticed if i loaded an OLD save file the game would load in no problem and i wouldnt get the runtime error!!!
so i deleted old save files and after deleting (maybe old 20 save files) i was able to load in to the most recent save file!!!
in my case, having an overload of save files was buggin out the game. lmk if you have any luck with this method
Press WINDOWS + R
Enter %LOCALAPPDATA%
You may need to navigate from "roaming" to "local"
Delete "FieldsOfMistria"
and then you run the game again
as a note if you were playing it before, your save actually still works ! so you wont lose actually anything (my old save its still playable
