yes! I had found 9 through my journey. Celine came to my house, took the flowers. I watered my crops then went into town and they said I didn't bring ANY. So when that happened I reloaded the day and tried again going right after she had taken the flowers. The same thing happened.
I thought this too, but I am horrible at saving through anything OTHER than sleeping so this was not the case. It was the same day because I ran after her.
I thought at first maybe it was plot? that she won because she took my flowers but I don't think the cozy game would do that to my heart
Also, this totally plays into my headcanon that Celine skims flowers off of everyone she collects them from.. she came out on top in both my gf's game and mine. Suspicious!
Okay I was *so* relieved to find this forum because this *just* happened to me! Coincidentally, I also only got 9 flowers. Not from lack of wanting to! Just.. between juggling other activities in the game, interacting with the villagers, and going about my business casually, that was just my turnout. I kinda figured some of the game is promoted to be gentle leisure, rather than a necessary grind. So I did genuinely try my best! And It's our first time, so unless you're okay spoiling yourself ahead of time and look into walkthrough's, I didn't really expect there to be a 'minimum'. Don't get me wrong, I get it, the number I got wasn't very impressive but- hey! I really did try!
I won't lie, given the kind-hearted nature of the game leading up to this point, it definitely threw me for a bit of a loop to be berated and treated as if I didn't even bother? It also (just in my opinion) doesn't seem the most befitting given the spirit of the game so far? Like if you TRULY didn't even try getting any, the backlash you get *would* make a bit more sense narratively. The town wants to see that you care and participate in it's traditions. But.. you're new, you're running around trying to befriend folks, learn the map, appreciate other little things.. sometimes using lots of stamina by gardening/fishing/gathering won't be your experience. I don't expect to come in first or be praised for my measly 9 flowers lmao. Or be placed at all for that matter. But.. for the narrative to be so supportive and comforting of all your efforts, even small because HEY you're new to everything. And just how gentle-natured everything/everyone is.. it seems a bit left-field for them to treat you like you didn't even care and manipulate you for not, 'doing enough/getting enough' ?
All that to say! Even if it isn't a bug and there was a secret minimum to 'count', not dissing the developers' choice of narrative! We're all different! Some would probably find this narrative genuinely funny. I'm just a bit of a neurodivergent baby with RSD who can get a bit sensitive to these things lol (I mean, it is a life-sim game, it is meant to pull you in and immerse you a bit with it's characters and stories, etc. Make you feel things~)
But personally, I hope it is a just a genuine bug that didn't read/register I *did* have flowers to give to Celine. (She came by and everything and said thank you. I even made sure they were in my player's inventory.) Rather than it being the game's humor, like, "wow, you only got 9, it's like you didn't even try. So we're going to manipulate you and act as though you didn't even try to get any at all." (No disrespect IF this is just the game's humor! /gen I just found it a little surprising myself.)
Especially where this game doesn't seem to be about punishing you for how 'good' at something you are.
I won't like, regardless I'm a lil said that I feel like this has messed up my game/relationship with the town? I saved before I went to the festival so I can't go back and hope it'll reload properly. But if it is a bug, it's early access!! Super valid, you know this is a risk going in of course.
