Purse and Cosmetic Item Unlocks?

Ive gotten a couple of purses and cosmetic items that say "use to unlock" or "use to collect money inside" but I can't figure out how to use them? I feel like I am probably just missing something, but I have tried to select from the inventory with no luck, and I have tried to hold the item and press "E" to use as it says to do on the screen, but I just get a little minus symbol above my head and nothing happens. Any ideas?

Immediate update in case anyone else had this problem. Just press and hold "E." I literally figured it out as soon as I posted this.

I'm trying to do the same thing, but on the stream deck. What is the command to do this with cosmetic items?
