Getting started with cooking?

I have recipes and ingredients but when I try and cook anything unable as I need level 1, do how do I get level 1?

You start off at lvl 1. I think you're trying to cook things that require lvl 2 and above. Try cooking some lvl 1 dishes instead. Can't rmb what it's called but the cave treats thing is lvl 1. I just made a bunch of that and immediately levelled up to cook other stuff.
