Unfortunately, this link does not seem to be working. I hope we are able to submit feedback somewhere, though, because visual accessibility is one of my biggest complaints with this game. UI resizing and zoom options being limited to two settings that are also tied to each other is...... Really, really bad, honestly, and I hope they're not too tied together in the code to make separating them impossible.
I love this game so far, and want to share it with my partner, but as it is she can only experience it through screenshots that she can zoom in on or transcriptions/image descriptions. :( She is not able to read the text or see the UI elements clearly.
It works, steam should ask you if you really want to leave steam, but sometimes it bugs out. Copy paste should do it if steam keep failing.
I'm partially blind, with poor enough eyesight I used Braille in school, but can still read print if it's large enough. I fell in love with games like Harvest Moon and The Sims after getting my first console, a GameCube, and later a PC and never looked back. Still, I've always hoped games would begin becoming more accessible to low-vision players. Last of Us is a shining example, of course, and Hogwarts Legacy was also fantastic! However, I know accessibility stuff is kind of niche and probably expensive/not the easiest to implement. Still, some things would be nice to see.
I love when there are tooltips describing the hair or eye color you're choosing, and even names of the hairstyles and such. Honestly, I'm just not a huge fan of pixel art generally, and got so burned out on Stardew, but I think I JUST might buy this.
It would be insanely nifty, though, if some modder would create something for Fields of Mistria that's similar to the Stardew Valley Access Mod, which makes every bit of Stardew Valley accessible with a screen reader. It would be even cooler if the devs could implement something like that themselves, but I'm not holding my breath. AAA games are just starting to add things like menu narration, and SVAccess is just a mod, so... yeah. Still, I'm fortunately not too color sensitive and zoom in a lot with Microsoft Magnifier as needed, so I'll probably pick this up. It looks too good not to! The one advantage to pixel-art/fixed prospective games is I always know my north, south, east, and west and don't get lost nearly as easily as I do in 3D games like My Time at Sandrock.
The text can be hard to read and there are no selections for text size or font yet but hopefully that gets added eventually with feedback for it.
I've barely got started, but the sizing feels fine. Then again, I'm playing on a 50 inch TV so milage may vary.
My one frustration, though, is to do with the tooltips for items and such in the inventory. I often zoom in with Microsoft Magnifier to read things, but in this instance I can't because the tooltip is so far from the item itself that as soon as I try to focus on the tooltip with the item description I've moved the mouse out of the item square entirely. I can read it unmagnified, but given my eyesight and TV size that requires me to bounce out of my seat each time I want to read a description. It's no biggy, though, since I can just use the Seeing AI app from Microsoft on my phone and have that read it out like I do with dialog. Still, it would be a neat accessibility feature to have the item tooltips remain even if you mouse away from them, unless you're mousing over new items in the inventory, or something.
In the grand scheme of things, though, that's such a little nitpick. I love the game so far, and look forward to getting back to it.
The issue I ran into with text, was numbers in crafting. I was misreading a 5 as a 9 and couldn't figure out why I wasn't getting the right amount after crafting. I relaunched the day to retry it . I was making ingots and then crafting something and then not having anything left. I even reported it as a bug. Only when I came back to it later and tried crafting one at a time did I see what the issue actually was. I have a 23 inch screen but my vision for mid range isn't properly corrected.
A good solution for the tool tips would be an encyclopedia, other games have them but not sure what they are usually called, where once you find something the info gets recorded to the encyclopedia and is another tab in the inventory menu you can check. That could be a solution for those who can't read the popups, long as they had static text in the encyclopedia. Items and descriptions could be grayed out till you find them. It would also help those that want to know if they found one of everything yet, since the museum doesn't take everything.
Eesh, don't think I could stand 23 inches. My AIO PC has a 27 inch screen, but I've had it plugged up to my 50-inch TV because I'm spoiled on that size. Definitely not getting another AIO once my current one kicks it, which won't be long... thermal overheating despite cleaning the vents sucks. I'm right in the middle of, say, The Sims 4, and the thing shuts down on me. I reboot it, and the bios tells me internal temps reached 90 degrees... which is insane so yeah... Still runs Mistria, though, so it's good for something!
Make sure you make an official suggestion on their site. It was posted earlier but to make it easy here it is https://www.fieldsofmistria.com/feedback-and-bug-reports The links to the forms are at the bottom after some tech issue suggestions. It would be easier for them to add something like that early on rather than later. Honestly that could be useful as a controller player as well. I want to mess with the cursor as little as possible.
Some of my earlier computers used to over heat easily as well(samsung). I've been using MSI for something like 20 years now. Only had problems early on in their life once and the warranty support went smoothly.
