I have found it most often at the dig site which has new spots to dig daily. It is in the upper left corner of the map. I've also randomly come across it in the mine

I’ve gotten clay from diving also

There is also a chance to get clay when you break rocks.

Thanks for the answers, but what do the dig spots look like and where are they most often found? I've had access to the museum for a few in-game days but haven't run across anything that looks like a dig spot yet.

It's really hard to tell but it's exactly the same as the digspots in the archeological site, a little little lump(?) same colour as the regular dirt. You really have to look out for them. They're all over the map randomly.

Go to carpenter shop and buy it, he sell it. You need leave the city via right exit who lead to the break bridge ( the eastern road)

He sell it ( wood,stone,glass,clay,fiber)

Ok I have seen one of these lumps in the ground (I think it was in a field west of my farm), but when I clicked it with the spade nothing happened. That's what you do, right?

That's weird, it should work. Maybe stand over them?

They lumps are also inside the mines and you can get some good stuff there.

i use a pickaxe and it works, not a shovel

I just realised Eiland does say "pickaxe or shovel" in one of his convos about archeology. I've been using the shovel all this time and it's fine but I rather not carry around both tools. Good to know.
