Keyboard and mouse support for Steam Deck?

I can't seem to get keyboard and mouse input to work with the game on Steam Deck. It only registers controller input...

This is happening to me as well. The main menu seems to detect the mouse cursor hovering over buttons, but clicking does nothing. Keyboard input does not work either.

you can try messing with the steam input settings, it might be forcing your controller input. Keyboard and mouse does work with linux

I've already tried setting the controller template to keyboard and mouse, but that didn't fix the issue.

did you go to game properties -> controller and try to disable steam input?

I tried disabling steam input and that did not work. Interestingly enough, the game registers my key input when changing keybindings. However, the inputs don't actually do anything when attempting to use them to interact with the game or close menus. Also noticed that when using a Nintendo controller, changing the controller layout to Nintendo makes the menu options correct for the buttons on the controller but changes the controller input to XBox layout.

can you try launching the game while steam is in desktop mode (not big picture)

i found this online, put "SteamDeck=0 %command%" into launch options without quotes, this disables the controllers for the game and allows keyboard and mouse

has anyone else tried all the suggestions but still have an invisible cursor? I have tried everything suggested above but still nothing. I have even been able to get to the options in the main menu but it only offers options for controller... have not been able to play this game yet

try this "gamescope -W 1920 -H 1080 -f %command%" and this if that doesnt work then "gamescope -W 1920 -H 1080 -f SteamDeck=0 %command%" without the quotes (i presume gamescope is installed by default on the steamdeck)

if youre playing on the deck screen try using -W 1280 -H 720

Now trying to play keyboard+mouse on Windows PC and having the same problem but worse... the mouse is "stuck" constantly scrolling and I cannot see the cursor or even choose anything... Might have to wait for a bugfix before i actually get to play... submitted a bug report already

yeah i honestly thought that would have fixed it, luckily the update will be out next week

I'm still having this issue too, I was hoping it would be addressed in today's patch but it's even worse. Previously, I could OCCASIONALLY get the mouse cursor to show up, but just by continuing to close the game and re-launch hoping one of the times it works. I've tried disabling Steam input, and configuring the control settings to mouse and keyboard, but still - no cursor and constant automatic scrolling. Please I just want to pet my cow!!!

Update: I just fixed mine!!!!! I uninstalled my vJoy driver and this fixed the issue for me! Hopefully this helps someone else, too!

This worked for me but only while in desktop mode. For some reason it crashes my Steam Deck when attempting to start the game in gaming mode. Thanks so much for the advice!

I am having this issue too. Keyboard and mouse are working fine with other games. But with this one, the cursor appears, but I can't click on any of the options in main menu
