Oh yes! I remeber that! I loved it :3
First, they already seem to have connections between them, like Landon, Therisia and Errol for example. It just would need a little programming here and there, not more than that that should/will be implemented already.
Second, why should this be a problem? It's just a game. They don't have feelings. If you think this way you had to consider so many other things like you are just farming what you want and dont farm to a list just that what they need, why is there no hunger for the player and also, why do the devs not let them be in love with each other?... It's-just-a-game XD
Lay off the sauce.
I was always kinda sad in older games that in what was usually a small town setting the only kid born was my own in the past couple years. If people don’t want the stress/want the freedom to get to know each one and then decide maybe a toggle feature so you can turn it back on after you’re married?
I like this idea of multiple ships so if you marry someone they could end up with someone else!! That made me sad that your rival would always end up forever alone, maybe this could bypass that
Fun fact: this was part of why BokuMono games removed rival marriages, as JP players often felt bad for breaking up potential pairings and felt like they should only pursue characters without rival pairings.
One of the Rune Factory games had a simple solution though. An extra character who ends up paired off with whoever would be left over depending on who the player marries. ... But it might be tricky to convincingly write a character who would feel natural marrying every other character... Still, it alleviates the potential player guilt of forcing someone else to end up alone!
A travelling merchant or something who decides to stay in the town and settles with whoever would have ended up with the character you marry would work. I like rival marriages, but I am also prone to that weird player guilt of feeling like a homewrecker.
Big no.
+1 for the matchmaking idea!
i was wondering if it was a future idea because they list the marriageable character as 'single?' i guess you could just take that as denoting that you can romance them but i started wondering who i'd have to challenge to a duel over eiland.
Its also generally more beneficial from a "game garnering a fanbase" perspective to leave things open-ended with possible ships. Like implying Juniper and Valen but not rejecting other potential pairs by canonizing one. it lets the fanbase run more wild.
