Does grass go away when winter starts?

My Stardew instincts kicked in when it was a few days from winter and told me to cut all the grass for extra animal feed. Don"t know if all the grass is lost during winter tho.

From all I've seen so far (I'm in late fall, but did watch some videos, and according to reddit too) - no, it stays.

I'm in year 2, so I played through a winter and all the grass stayed put all good <3
