Fences?

i put some fences down on my farm, mostly around the barn and coop so i could enclose the animals, however my animals all just.... walk through the fence? is this supposed to happen?

I've had that happen too I've also had my chickens and rabbits walking on water I believes its a bug but it was pretty funny to see my animals walk on water.

I have my crops fenced off so the animals can't eat them. My chickens and baby animals do tend to walk across this fenced off area but they never eat the crops, so it does work but is a touch buggy perhaps.
