Can't change relationship

I just purchased the game and on the following screen I can change only the names. The relationship is impossible to be changed - when I press any keys there, nothing happens. What should happen (new characters added or removed) happens only with the characters' names.

I fixed it for myself locally (by manually defining Emi's role as sister) but it would be better if you fix it everyone.

so how exactly did you fix im having the same issue

If you click where it says "childhood friend" you should be able to delete the text that is in there and put in something new. Do you mind if I ask what resolution your display is?

I edited the file manually. IIRC the file name was script.rpy.

if youre playing on steamdeck throw it in desktop mode and everything will work as it should.

yeah, can confirm its still not working on steam deck screen in normal mode. will not accept enter button press and progress text fields. the keyboard just keeps popping up infinitely looping. steam deck is 1280x720 iirc.

hitting the b button just spams "eeeee"s as well

I seem to be able to change everything but when I select confirm Emi's name was not changed. It still shows Emi during game. I tried over and over same thing. My name is working, I selected confirm and deleted the text I wanted to change as well then the next part of the story started and her name is Emi at the door. I am in window mode in 2560x1440 resolution. I did not go to far in the story so it may only change the name in certain parts and I haven't yet seen anything related to the relationship to determine if that updated.

Update, I gotten farther and looks like everything took but the name change. I am guessing since the game is called Emi New Beginning that Emi cant be change in game. Which is no biggie just not sure why it was offered for us to change and it not take affect.

Yeah her name can't be changed. At the top it says "Her name is Emi" and then under that it says "I call her ...." which would be a nickname. It's something Wiz did so you can't change her name but never understood what the "I call her" part was, I assume a nickname like Sis or something... I'll probably have a little look at changing this and make it so you can rename her. I just need to get episode 6 of the cabin done first.
