Unlucky man, it should work doing what I said but I mean its not ideal and Ubisoft basically abandoned the game so fair call on refunding it. It ends with a cliffhanger for a game they never intend to make so you probably did yourself a favor though the gameplay is actually really good.

Try running it under compatibility mode as Windows 7.
You can do this by going to the .exe file for the game which will be under something like:
C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\IAmAlive
Right click it and click properties, then click the compatibility tab and choose to run as Windows 7.
Should work after this.

Could also try verify game files or running as admin.

I have Windows 10 also and I get the error but I click the play anyway and it starts up. Works fine for me when I do that. Game was designed for Windows 7 so probably doesnt know the OS when its starting.

its not listed under that directory. already requested a refund. havent got time to spend troubleshooting when hundreds of other games work. 2 attempts to fix is more than enough for a paid product whhich should a) work and b) fixing should be up[ to the devs or refund

Sorry for being late to the party. I played and finished this game on my computer ( which is Windows 10). It might be a different problem.
