Arena is absolutely insufferable. Its not like this at my kitchen table nor my local game store.
The fact that you only have 4 possible decks is a deeper issue. I recommend experimenting with cards you would not ordinarily play with and see how that goes. Also is your sole goal to win? This may be a hard to achieve expectation if you are just starting out.
And though I believe the above you are not wrong about the extra year between rotations. I can't wait for the older sets to spin out and be replaced by a different experience. Though it is likely with the incoming sets we will more of the same to some degree. Murders for example will likely be a vampire heavy set.
