Yet another deck review
Been seeing deck review threads and thought I'd try my hand so to speak.

Format: Standard

This is a slightly wacky mono black artifact, deck hit diamond with it a couple of days ago, no idea where it's going to cap out.

Primary strategy = Ramp hard into Discover my entire deck.

Secondary = Avarice card draw them with a Roaming Throne'd Sheoldred on the board (bonus points for a crawler on board with them at 20 health)

Tertiary = Double Quandry + removal.

Emergency WinCon = Exsanguinate

Goes something like ideally:
Turn 1 - Freebooter
Turn 2 - Buried Treasure
Turn 3 - Hedron Archive
Turn 4 - Chimil
Turn 5 - ??? It's a double Discover 5 trigger remember that Buried Treasure from earlier?
Turn 6 - Victory

Creatures:
Greedy Freebooter x 2
Early blocker that provides big value
Sheoldred, the Apocalypse x 3
Punishing people for playing the game is really at the heart of what makes magic special.
Scrawling Crawler x 2
It's group hug trust me we both get to draw cards isn't that great?
Roaming Throne x 2
Retriggers my Phyrexians.


Instants:
Fake Your Own Death x 2
Can provide some good value with Freebooter, or save one of my creature combo pieces.
Hero's Downfall x 2
Good value planeswalker and creature removal.
Withering Torment x 2
For annoying enchantments and creatures that will kill me.
The End x 2
Secret WinCon.
Deadly Derision x 2
This costs 3 mana. (CMC 4)


Sorceries:
Insatiable Avarice x 2
Tutors win-cons and can straight up kill the opponent easily.
Exsanguinate x 1
When all else fails use your 5 million mana.
Deadly Cover-Up x 2
Boardwipe + I broke your deck.


Artifacts:
Buried Treasure x 4
Lets me cast Hedron Archive turn 3, which means Chimil turn 4, and gives me a discover 5 after.
Karn's Sylex x 2
Only thing i really have against artifact heavy decks and a decent enough emergency board clear.
Hedron Archive x 2
Fantastic if you cast it turn 3, useful later as a draw 2.
Gilded Lotus x 2
Honestly it's just funny to have a lot of mana.
Chimil, the Inner Sun x 2
6 mana discover 5 is a fairly standard cost, and this thing lets me do it every end step???


Enchantments:
Painful Quandary x 2
By the point in the game these are out the opponent if forced into a basically lose/lose scenario of choosing between doing something and dying or losing the game, also what I said about Sheoldred.


Lands:
Hidden Necropolis x 2
We love discover.
The Dross Pits x 2
We love card draw.
Swamp x 18
We love untapped lands.



This deck is some of the most fun I've had in magic recently.

hard to say considering arena doesn't really track that but i'd say ballpark around 60-70% winrate

should swap out 1 of the Chimil for a Palantir
it's legendary anyways so can't have a duplicate out same time

and throw a Cosmos Elixir in for good measure

don't forget 1 swamp should be Snow-covered just to have a variety of Artworks :br_cool:

It looks lie it's a Standard deck so Palantir isn't an option.

If you're having fun, go for it but I'd be amazed if it got any higher without a seriously lucky streak.

Some of the main issues:
1. The discover lands aren't worth playing in constructed. The possibility of spending your turn and the land to discover 5 at sorcery speed just isn't worth coming into play tapped. Similar issue with dross pits but not quite as bad. I'd much rather run basic swamps than either of them in this deck but I'd prefer running several demolition fields (for fountainport and creature lands) and fountainport if you want a mana sink that provides card advantage in your lands. A monocoloured manabase can support a couple of colourless land with little issue.

2. You significantly overvalue discover in your deck, most notably with buried treasure. Take a good look at the deck and look at your odds of hitting something you actually want to cast straight away with discover 5. Pretty sure they'll be lower than you'd like and if you're not casting it straight away, it's an overcosted draw spell that reveals the card to your opponent.

3. Your deck seems to be a control style deck but your removal is all too expensive to expect to live that long. You need more efficient (cheaper), if less versatile, removal to survive the early game - cut down, go for the throat, nowhere to run, bitter triumph, etc see a lot of play for a reason.
