Unless historic is actually modern?

Historic and timeless.

Brawl as well if you're into that. I'm not sure what format Brawl follows (I think close to if not the same as Historic) but the MH3 cards are there.

I forget brawl exists since there's no ranked and its like the ugly red-headed stepchild of commander. A format we all want and MTGA should have.

You can't really do modern on arena since the sets only go back so far. Timeless does seem to ne the analog

Way further. Historic is arenas eternal format with full bans on lots of cards but it also uses all the alchemy cards in the format. Timeless is every card ever in arena, no bans only 1 card restrictions. Timeless is sweaty af to play lol. Stick to historic if u do play. Historic is actually kind of balanced.

Meh, it's better than nothing. We've all been settling for less with Wizards for a long time already.

Amen. Imo MTGA should already have commander, Modern, Pioneer, Pauper along with social features like clans, groups, voice and text chat between friends. MTGA basically just does enough and its only around because nothings as good to use.

Way further but it's also complicated by some of the anthology cards they brought in like channel (restricted but not banned in timeless) and show and tell which are premodern and cards like Fury that are banned in modern. So you'll be missing lots of modern decks like Tron, some are mostly there like Death Shadow Zoo and there'll be some not in Modern like show and tell. Timeless is always going to be a bit of a mess with broken cards from anthologies and nothing being banned and only restricted in extreme cases.

For analogues, Standard is obviously Standard. Explorer is mostly Pioneer, still missing some staples and decks but a fair chunk of the staples have been brought in through anthologies or bonus sheets. Lots of sets still missing given Pioneer is from 2012 forward but with power creep and anthologies, it's not too bad an analogue.

I prefer Brawl, because you don't have commander damage and you can use Planeswalkers as commanders.
