Magic: The Gathering Arena

When does the game actually get hard?
About to hit diamond, 70% winrate in 7 hours of match time.

Brand new MTG player.

Have played a lot of Pokemon TCG and hearthstone competitively.

Also does the mythic grind get much harder than this?

It will get harder when your MMR sorts itself out, which will likely be at the start of next season.

Take advantage while you can, first grind to mythic is always the easiest, especially for fresh accounts.

if you play some braindead creature spam or aggro deck which I assume you do because you're a new player then the answer is never, there's a reason these decks are so popular - they're easy to pilot but still win a lot, if you want a challenge pick a more sophisticated deck

also I believe if your account is brand new then you will be matched against other noobs in which case just crafting some rares will give you a big advantage

From my experience, a deck with a 70-90% win rate in Platinium will have an approximately 55-65% win rate in Diamond, then ~40-60% win rate in Mythic.

In Bo1 mode, decks tend to be cheesy. If you want a higher difficulty, I recommend playing Bo3 mode - here, players use their sideboard to counter most of the cheesy strategies.

To play with a netdeck? When you get into mythic.
To brew a deck yourself? Pretty difficult as standard is pretty solved right now.
