Arena is a competitive client. It's always been that way, and will continue to be that way.
i hate to say it man, but arena really doesn't flow like that. It's not comp and unranked, its comp and diet comp. the players are just as lame in both. I wish unranked was more open for fun, but that just isn't how it is.
I want them to introduce a "no-rares" mode. It's be hard not to have fun there, tbh. Open the floor to some goofy/subpar cards.
No rares is a little much IMO, their are some really cool and unique rares and mythics that come across as bad rares and mythic rares currently that could actually see play if other rares and mythics were banned. What the game needs is a queue where the top x number of most used cards are banned with a weekly or bi-weekly ban update, and a matchmaker that simple looks at the last 5 games you played or so and simply doesn't put you up against someone who's running 75% or more of the same identical non-land cards.
If they do something like this I imagine it's be a 24 hour ban list, or MAYBE a 48 but I wouldn't hold my breath.
Just played a test game with a thrown together deck and I had 2 gingerbrutes and 3 myr enforcers (4/4) out by turn 3. Is it weaker than a good non-pauper deck? Yes - the jet storm deck I was playing against comboed off against me next turn. But just having pauper with the same system as everything else currently has doesn't really open many options for playing goofy cards and making them competitive.
Hind sight though, I should probably not do that cause i can just quit when i see these abusing cards.
They're a business. You need to think like they do. Why would they do that? They're here to make money. No.
It'd clean up so much of the plays.
They are here to sell cards, not make the game you want. This isn't difficult.
