Magic: The Gathering Arena

How to beat the rigged system of matchmaking
I see a lot of people mad about the rigged matchmaking. Just automatically quit 5-10 ten games in a row in one session (don't close the game or edit a deck or the process will restart) and you will see that you suddenly will have a spree of perfect hands and mana flow.

I think they did it to keep people from doing the daily quests easily, it also works in ranked but the results can kind of vary as the matchmaking can be a bit more truly random. I don't hold anything against the devs or Wizards as they have to make money to keep the game going, but since this is a F2P game I know a lot of you can't invest money like some of us do (yes I give them my money, idc if it's rigged, I like alchemy and arena is a step up in a lot of ways from the previous MTG pc games).

This method will not work on drafts etc.

p.s if you do it on ranked, do it when you are on the very first rank and cant rank down or else it will be pointless because you will just rank down a bunch.

Just tried this, didn't work. Probably because the system is not rigged and you're only assuming it is because of confirmation bias.

Oh, so because you're new to the forums, we should just take your word that it's rigged even though there's zero evidence to show that's the case and tons of evidence for the opposite... makes sense :steambored:
I love playing mess around fun decks sometimes on Arena. Like tribals, or a plane walkers mash-up brawl... however, the pairing you get, given the colors you choose to play, are EXTREMELY BIAS. Red/Green, your opponent is always going to be black/splash any other color. Mono white, mono white mirrors or mono colored counter deck. Blue/white/Green enchantments, somehow some freaking way. You play ugin... if you played the tutorial, the older Playstation games, or pc games. They have ai for bots to play certain pre-made deck, with different tiers of difficulty. It's all manipulated at the end of the day. The reviews, the opponents, or even what cards you'll open from packs. Playing MtG:Arena is like playing against the deuce nuggets that set their decks and avoid deck cutting. It's humiliating and toxic. It makes people stop playing. And there are very small minority that will jump to attention to bash anons online who poke fun of their game. 🤣 Just play it if you want, when you want. But don't play it like it matters.

More conjectural assertions with zero evidence...

I have no idea how people can believe a game is rigged specifically against them.

And then keep playing it.

Ever been to a casino or a carnival? Everything is rigged, such is life. That's why us peasants use paper money and the ultra rich use equity and debt. Rigged doesn't mean impossible as some people may feel this game is. Every system has it's exploits, some legal, some illegal. I am not suggesting anything unethical; I just wan't people to get more enjoyment out of the game and stick around.

I've been to many. None of them presented MTG:A as one of their carnival games.

Yea but i think part of the problem is this game was heavily developed in the early stages by the Duels devs and when they were done they brought in their own people so there is a weird system to begin with as duels was pretty featureless and didn't really evolve. I think too all games have their toxic people about, some people really just don't have lives or careers and need to feel some validation and that their opinion matters and don't have the real world to turn to.

F2p games especially draw some toxic people into them because they are generally less moderated because if they are from a big studio they are low on the totem pole. I remember Battlefield Heroes back in the day and that game had like zero bannings or moderation. I have played f2p games since before they were really even a thing starting with promoted mods like Insurgency for source which eventually became an actual game.
No one said it's rigged against you. But you are playing a game, one where there is a clear winner and loser... and I'm pretty sure a majority of people are easily influenced by whose spending the most money. That being said. Don't play MtG:A like it even matters. I jump on to do dailies like 2 or 3 times a week. And only play brawl, because 1o1s are a joke. 3o3s are a waste of time unless it's an event. Then it's enter at your own risk. It's cutthroat and if you don't know what you're doing... if you don't know the set and it's effective synergies, then Goodluck. However, they can implement a deck cutting feature. Asking players to put a yellow line on the deck, or something. But this current iteration is real slimy feeling. I don't like having my hands set for me. Let alone playing against someone knowingly doing it.

To your point about messing around, I love it too. In real magic it's hard to have a diverse series of themed decks or test mechanics unless you like to spend money or have insane luck on pulls. My current fav is Bat Gain/Drain decks but it makes it so unfun for my opponents so I am trying to find something interesting in the current standard/alchemy that isn't rage inducing.

I loved the last Ixlan, there was tons of fun stuff in that, but also some very rage inducing stuff like explore/discover and some of the mana ramping is just a pain. It seems like the current standard is just too convoluted or arse-holeish like hare apparent decks. They need to do some real brainstorming to make MTG more diverse.

Deck cutting would be great, maybe even having the deck shuffle 3 times or something that the player can see happening to let people feel more comfortable if they do infact get bad luck, but I really don't think their team has the funding or abilities to take Arena to that level currently.

What's hilarious is that adding an animation that showed your deck being shuffled probably would significantly cut down on the number of people who show up and claim things are rigged, because it would make them feel better, despite that animation making zero actual difference. It doesn't matter if the game "shows the deck being shuffled" zero times or 300, you're still equally unaware of the position of any cards and thus wouldn't be able to differentiate between the end results.

I would only add the deck cutting mechanic in to let the community know they are putting work into the game, outside of adding new sets, emotes or daily store items. And to also elevate any more growing concerns into deck manipulation algorithms. But I'm just some schmuck on the internet.
